Dean Henderson

When was the last time Man Utd brought a goal keeper through from their youth set up? Kevin Pilkington (6 games in 6 years) or Gary Walsh (50 games in 10 years)? They’re hardly famous for it.

Henderson is a decent young keeper with promise. He’s made some good saves this season, he’s also made some ricks. His public persona? He’ll suck on whatever pickle gets put in his mouth. Let’s not get too carried away with it. This time next season, if he’s on loan Newcastle, he’ll be kissing the badge and baiting mackems.

Well, that's that then. I might as well sack it all off, give up hope and pack it all in.

I'd be more than happy loaning him for another 12 months, he's bought into us and the blades mentality. It feels like he's our player rather than one we've loaned, unlike some who have been and not properly integrated.

Hopefully he's learnt a lot in his time here, he has made a few costly mistakes, there again show me a keeper who hasn't made mistakes

Of course he wants to play for Man United. Why is that so hard to understand?

If he gets back next year and isn't even on the bench he'll force a move, but whilever he's being told or believes he can make it at Man United of course he's going to stick with it.

A lot depends on if he wants first team football. As much as I rate him, there’s no way he’s a top champs league keeper yet (and the odds are he never will be). That’s Man U’s requirement unless he agrees to shut up and pull the splinters out of his bum whilst getting rich.

His character suggests to me he’ll want to play. So I predict he won’t be at Man U next season. A Premiership loan is near certain. Followed by a permanent move if he hasn’t proven he can challenge De Gea by then.

Well, if Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail says so...

I’d hazard the wildest of wild guesses, that as a sports reporter for a national newspaper that he’s got more of an insight into such matters than you have, and that’s why I’ve referenced him, sugar tits. :)

He’ll be out on loan again next season
Ive said before when he was joining us he said he'd save us 20 points and take us up, come back on loan to us in the Prem next season and then look to be challenging or be Man U keeper after that. that is his 3 year plan. If we dont go up he'll be on loan to a Prem club

Glass completely bone dry alert !!!!!

Hes right though. A mate of mine is a grimsby fan and when we signed him he told me all about him kissing badge running to the crowd etc. Minutes later i saw his social media post quoting Greasy Chip Butty, and knew exactly what my mate meant. End of the day, hes a good keeper, got great potential, and gets supporters onside, not much wrong there at all

I really don't think we have the money for him. Young players who are clearly very talented like Brooks/Deano are worth £20m+ in current times. But because hes a GK He will be about £15m minimum. Only if we go up do we have a chance of it.

Sadly, I agree

No chance. He will be a similar price to Sam Johnstone.

I'll throw in a curve ball to the Hendo thread.

If we do happen to go up - we are going to have to have a decent and experienced keeper. We all like Hendo and can see his obvious potential, but would he be experienced enough? If we were to replace Cardiff (as an example) wouldn't we be better trying to buy Etheridge as No 1 from the relegated Cardiff as against perhaps having to re-loan Hendo?

Just a discussion item - nothing more.

A point I was trying to make earlier in the thread. https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/dean-henderson.65819/page-6#post-1906827

If we go up, we have options. If we don’t go up, we’ll probably not be able to sign him.

yep or even Butland. I could see the immediate clamour to try and sign Hendo, but i'd like some experience between the sticks, even if it's to put pressure on Hendo (if we did sign him). Antics (from Hendo) are fine when we are winning Championship games but the quality of strikers is just on a different level in the Prem.

Tbf, Butland was a rather extreme example to make the point but we’ve been here with loan players before. If we sign him, good, if we don’t, it’s not the end of the world.

Deanos a quality keeper but this constant lovin for deano reminds me of brayford a bit.

Not sayin deano ain’t a quality keeper but he won’t think twice about playing for another team in the prem

Our supporters are like the Cheryl Cole of football fans, anyone who shows her the slightest bit of attention and doesn’t make her sleep in the damp patch, and she’s planning the wedding, practicing writing her new surname and thinking of baby names.

DH is a professional footballer who’s owned by one of the biggest clubs in the world, and is currently getting paid to play for us, he’d be pretty stupid to bite the hand that feeds him whilst he’s here. He’s no more a blade than Michael Palin or Harry Maguire.
