Having a brilliant season at Donny with 19 goals so far . He's tall , strong , not lacking in pace and at 26 looks a far better proposition than Leon did at that age , and look how that turned out .

Meanwhile , in other news , our new superstar striker has not scored a single goal for over a year ......

Gerrim in before some other fucker nicks him from under our nose .

Does Brian the Blade still bang on about him all the time ?

Never done it outside League 1, already had 8 clubs, free transfer last time, tells it's story I think.

8 as opposed to Leon's 18 , or 20 if you include playing for the same club twice . :)

Tom Eaves is another one to consider. It's clicked for him now and he's only going to get better. Would've rather us spent 700k on him than Madine's wages.

I have no idea if Marquis is any good. Lyle Taylor has scored lots of goals in the lower leagues.

Basically, just because he plays locally doesn't mean he's right for United. Might be, might not.

True but I think Leon had done it at Chumpionship level at that age, could be wrong.

Either way, we need better than both of them at this point :)

It's not like Wilder isn't aware of him and it's not like we couldn't afford him...conclusion either Wilder doesnt think he's good enough or he doesn't offer something that Wilder thinks we need

27 next week. Never done it at this level and quite frankly has struggled to do it the level below us. Basically had a good season last year (as did Waghorn?) but still a 1 in 4 at league 1 level.
Thanks but no thanks. Bang average for me

You know we won't go near him don't you only teams like Brentford and Preston take a chance on younger players from lower leagues we like em nearer 30yr old with no re- sale value. Short term plannìng rules ok!

If he's more than £50k we can't afford him.

Brentford sold us their ageing (26 years old) CB John Egan and replaced him with Chris Mepham (21) and Ezri Konsa (21). And didn't that work out well for them?

The most recent seasons are the most relevant.

He got 17 last season and is on course to comfortably better that this time (14 so far, with no pens).

27 isn't that old for his player type, he'll probably peak in his early 30s.

By the time he's 30 I fancy him to be an established Championship striker.

Better than 1 in 3 in the last two years . Not bad going by any standard .

Thought Lyle Taylor looked a decent player just never got a chance wonder how he’d have been under wilder

a) Norwood 2 million
Egan 4 million.

b) John Lundstram.

Having a pearler this week ,whats your next excuse for slagging 'your team' off ?

In relation to the Madine signing, Wilder mentioned that he'd spoken with our defenders and that they had confirmed that they hadn't enjoyed playing against Madine.

Presumably, our central defenders could have confirmed something similar about Smith at Rotherham, who bullied our defence and made O'Connell look very poor indeed, in the game in November.

Or Kieffer Moore. And Barnsley have decided to start selling their players again... if they ever stopped. Superb selling club.

Youre being very disingenuous.

You could've applied your last 2 points to John Fleck, as for the 8 clubs - the vast majority were loans.

I'm not saying we should sign him, by the way, I'm just pointing out that your comment doesn't tell the full story, in fact, it's probabaly a little misleading.

Has he just had one good season or did you make that up?

I'm sure Wilder would love to be signing the likes of Maja and Marquis, but I just think with our limited budget they are a gamble he can't afford to take. Much maligned as Madine is, at least he has a record of scoring goals at our level (albeit not prolific) where as none of those players do.

Any signing is a gamble, but I really think until (if) we get some financial backing the gamble will have to be minimised as much as possible, so looking for strikers who've scored in our league and are affordable isn't an enviable task, hence the Madine signing.

He might be good enough for the lower end of the Championship from what I've seen. Albeit, I've not seen him this season.

He had the technical ability and pace that’s for sure

He looked like Bambi on ice when I saw him play. Another of our poor ex-players that people are remembering more fondly than they deserve. There should be a proverb "A few goals in Scotland (or Holland) does not a striker make".
