Freeman’s downturn

I don’t think he’s playing well but not really atrocious either.
Everyone on here should reign it in there’s massive overreaction to everything in both ways either being shit or brilliant.
For me Baldock is and always has been the better player.
Yesterday I think was largely but not totally Wilders fault, we had a team that had eleven strangers playing a competitive match against a well verse non league team.
I’m sure if the team he picked yesterday had played more competitive matches they’d would probably have beaten non league opponents.
Training games are just that and there is no substitute for competitive game despite the undoubted quality of the players.
The players also do deserve a roasting as the lack of effort was there for all to see.

I think Cartman is working from the logic that if the structure of a formation is Defence-Midfield-Attack then our formation by definition is 5-3-2, regardless of where exactly the players are at any one time.

Just thought I'd point that out, as no one seems to have understood his point.

Thank god

Last night was 3 pages of utter pain for me trying to get this point across.

Our own Danny04 seems to think it’s 352.

“That togetherness and team spirit transcends onto the field, too and although each of United’s Championship rivals know exactly how they will set up in games tactically, very few – on the evidence so far, seem to have an answer when it comes to stopping their pioneering 3-5-2 formation.

United’s wing-backs operate like traditional wingers, with the two “outside” centre-halves also tasked with getting forward and creating attacks as often as they stop them.“

Don’t take my word for it :)
I’ve never seen Wilder go with a back five, though.
I’m not sure Enda was ever a right back, Eric Cartman unless he was played out of position on the opposite wing, maybe in his younger days

A left back you mean? He’s never been a left winger.

Don’t drag this up again it’s extremely boring

Not sure, saw one of your posts earlier that said Stevens was a right back before he came - I thought he’d always played on the left. He might have been a left back before but he certainly ain’t one now

If I said that I meant full back. And indeed, he's a wing back.

To save me reading 5 pages of too-ing and fro-ing, was there a conclusion on our formation?

We should go all Dianne abbot and play 6-4-3. we all said something was seriously not right with Freeman at Forest. A decent performance or replacement would have got us 3 points there ,he was beyond useless and has been since. It does seem more than lack of form ,although the second half crosses yesterday suggest ,hes still got the ability.

I think it's clear that Tufty rates Baldock ahead of him and maybe he's just seen his arse, simple as. If we could combine the two...............

Jesus Christ. Everyone knows our formation. Who cares whether you consider a wing-back a defender or a midfielder? We mostly play with a goalkeeper, three centre backs, two wing-backs, three midfielders and two strikers. It's not hard. This is probably the worst discussion I've ever seen on here. Every time I've clicked to go to the next page I can't quite believe it's still going on.

The Freeman discussion is actually pretty interesting too. I thought it was telling that he didn't play well in an U23 match the other day (write-up thanks to Ball_Sup (Phil)), a match where you think a fit and thriving Freeman would dominate. I don't think he's in a happy place at the moment, for whatever reason.

Must be a fitness problem as he was still pinging in some decent crosses towards the end.

Hope the coaching team get to the bottom of it as he's an attacking outlet key to the way we play.
