Then I think the ref is supposed to stop play when the dog enters the field of play, but I'm not sure. What's your point?

True but if you take the lead and decided to waste time it'll reduce the time the other team has to score a goal. Some people are ok with it, other hate it, the fact is, it's in the game and isn't going away anytime soon.

You can't reject every part of football other than the split second between a player hitting the ball and the ball hitting the back of the net. It's the equivalent of saying no other move in chess matters other than the final one. It's silly.

If the ball deflects of a dog or anything else for that matter before the refs stops the game the goal stands.
The game was not designed to incorporate time wasting no more than a deflection of a dog. You accept it if you want. I will never. I do not pay my money to watch a player writhe on the floor, pretend to jog off the pitch during a sub or deliberately deceive the people who pay his wages.

Accept in what sense? It's a part of the game that teams use to gain an advantage. That's a fact. I don't like it and it should be trivial to eliminate it, but football is weird.
