Busy Christmas period over, 5 days before Barnet chance for players to get rested before the next league game in around 12 days..

The team I'd play;

Moore

Freeman
Stearman
O'Connell (can't bring myself to end that consecutive run of games)
Cranie
Lafferty

Lundstram
Coutts
Dowell

Clarke
Washington

If a way could be found to rest JOC as well I would not complain.

Freeman Coutts Lundstram Johnson

Sounds like a plan. Hadn’t considered Lafferty at LCB but may be worth a look.

I'd play the strongest possible team and give the opposition and fans who turn up the respect they deserve.

Then again, I'm old school who still respects the FA Cup.

They go to watch Sheffield United play football. How is playing a weakened squad disrespectful to the fans? Sounds more like you're being disrespectful to the fringe players, who actually see cup games as their chance to prove their worth and force their way into the team.

I'd much rather go and watch the fringe players in a game like this.

So would I, also Coutts injury set us back last year, would hate for a first teamer to get a nasty injury in a game v Barnet.

The FA Cup is basically a glorified Paint pot trophy now - football managers don’t give a toss about it in the majority of cases, same with the League Cup.

Such a shame from how they used to be, when I started going teams in the top two Divisions gave the Simon/Zenith Cup more respect than we give the 2 major trophies these days.

Modern football fans, eh?

Moore
Cranie (if fit) Stearman Bryan (if real)
Freeman Coutts Lundstram Johnson
Dowell

A very strong Championship level team there, without risking the main 11. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few of the recent starters just because we've got 6 days until the next game after this.

Agreed...but not in the 3rd round against a mid-table Conference team.

We’ve just had four games in less than two weeks with an unchanged team (apart from Basham yesterday). It’s not disrespecting the cup, more about managing our key players. They deserve a rest.

Be good for a couple of youngsters to feature. Maybe the lad we’ve just signed from Guiseley will get on the bench.

Don’t see how wanting to watch a few of the second string in a 3rd Round tie against non-league opposition as that disrespectful to anybody. Likewise I don’t see how wanting to see the first team is disrespectful to anybody whatsoever. Would like to see a mix personally. Looking forward to seeing Dowell for the first time.

Didn't Bryan play an under 23 game around 10 days ago? Played most if not all the game

Won't we also be laughing for a replay down in that there London (much as Barnet is on my wish list away ground).

If our first team need a rest, then that says lots. Bollox to that, play the strongest team, make a statement, bring on PL side in Round 4.

I thought Freeman had injury issues? Ribs?

I'd play as near to the first team starting XI as possible, one chance a season to get to the FA Cup final, we have a good team this season why not give it our best shot of getting there.
