Am I right or was Harper not in the squad on Saturday v Donny due to the number of loanees in the squad
If I am right we are going to have major problems up until January
Bunn, Walker, Davies, Treacey, Harper, Cresswell - Have I forgotton anyone
Six loanees I guess that means thats it till January:thumbdown:

was he not out to a injury too, i thought I heard somet with him having a knock but your right he wasn't in.

Though I imagine Killa will be back in the CB position, so we'll probably swap that around and we can still swap to accomdate.

Your right that's the 6.
I don't see why it's a crisis though
Only 5 in the squad at one time so I think they will change between Davies, Treacy, Harper & Creswell missing out where needed

But with Monty looking like being out for a while it restricts our options ie We cannot bring in another loanee!

Yeah we know that but again, I feel Killa will be back, France also showed he can be competent in that role. Not a first option I agree but he did relatively ok there second half. so we can still change it round.

Also restricts the possibility of bringing in another striker!

I think were done for loans and don't see another striker coming here till January if I'm honest. Its will be a major struggle there but one we have to take at the minute.

If it gets a real issue it will go back to 4-5-1.

Add Harper to the injured list.Blackwell can have as many loan players as he likes but only 5 on the game sheet including subs.

Correct ! But due to the forward planning of buying and selling players by Mssrs Blackwell and McCabe it has left us very thin on the ground for players and the transfer window tightly closed!
Up until January it is our only option!!!

Correct Harper had his contract taken over and he missed Donny through a knee injury not loan numbers .
Blackwell can go find strikers if he wants there is no limit to loan players it is just that only 5 can be named on the match lineup.

I know needs musts to a degree but why didn't we just properly sign Harper, just like Reading signed Howard? That could be one less! I can't see why we didn't do it, we're taking over his contract as it is so it's not like Reading are subbing any of his deal. We wouldn't have had to offer him a long term contract either (although I wouldn't be against it).

I know it's been done a million times too but surely in hindsight we should have signed some agreement (not sure how legal it would be) with Spurs saying Walker is yours at the end of the 2009/2010 season but for now he is officially our player. That's another one!

What happens in January if we sign, say Cresswell & Bunn, does that free up space to sign further loans or doesn't it work like that? Do you get a set number of 'deals' for one season?

Also, as a general rule I don't think it's healthy to have a squad which has 5+ loan players in it, not so much for loyalty which I don't think this bunch can really be questioned on, just long term it doesn't bode well.

According to Blackwell in the Yorkshire Post, ""I have got 12 new players in, six of whom are on loan". So he clearly thinks Harper counts as a loan player.

It IS unfortunate to lose three central midfielders through injury at the same time and Blackwell can't really be expected to legislate for that. However, he knew the rules when he allowed the transfer window to expire with only two central defenders and three strikers in the squad.

This forced him into hurriedly using two more of his loans on Davies and Creswell, thereby overloading the squad with loanees. It was obvious this was going to happen at some point and bad planning on his part I'm afraid.

I agree bad planning by Blackwell but does he have KB's gun at his head to trim the squad down to a skeleton.Lots of attempts to sign players Lita ,Smith, players out of contract etc they either didn't want to come or the money offered is way short.
He is now stuck,is he following Burnley they did it with the smallest of squads but they were lucky with injuries.

Good one to many Kevins. He shouldn't with the wages he will be picking up.He has done well in the past without alot of money to spend. His only players he signed are Evans and Williamson the rest are all on a free or loanees so sitting in 6th isn't doing too badly.

Did someone say that Blackwell is considering suicide. Now that the lawyers have sorted out the rules for assisting put me down as a willing aide. "Two to Zurich please". "Return?"; "Just the one" - oh happy days.

What is all this chat about Harper - I'm begining to worry. I can't believe that we can find - more or less - an absolute replica of Howard. Now I can understand that Reading would never want two Harpers/Howards but why oh why have we still got one of them?

The entire loan system stinks imho. It's basically a way of cheating. Why develop youth or buy when you can just borrow some surplus from elsewhere? Encourages short term thinking which is why our enthusiastic embracing of it surprises me and Santos states does nothing for the ties twitx players and fans.

Fully endorse your comments raul - no way can the loanees have the same dedicationas the regular players - generally they use the system to show themselves off and to get match practice usually at the expense of an up and coming youngster!

I read that Blackwell had said that too but I thought that Taylor cost about £300K? Even the official site states that there was an "undisclosed" fee involved.

I heard there was a fee for Taylor too But the figure was £400,000 It must have been papertalk because there is no way shape or form that Andy taylor and £400k should be mentioned in the same sentence!

I like the Chairman's idea that we abandon the transfer window and permit domestic transfer throughout the year in the Football League - a lot simpler.

This would destroy the one thing I like about the transfer window - that it limits our ability to sell our best players.

For example, that's the only thing that stopped us selling Beattie as soon as he was fit last year. And it will stop us offloading Kilgallon until January, happily.

:popo:Disagree Rev. Speculating on the nature of the mystery illness that will keep him out of a game the day before the transfer is announced is about the only entertaining thing January as a month has to offer.

My money's on tonsilitis striking Killa down before the Middlesbrough game.
