Whether Henderson would be available or not, the fact that he's a Man Utd player would suggest that there'd be a premium on his valuation. So imagine something between £10-15 million, rather than the low-ish, and quite unrealistic, figure of £6 million that's been suggested on here. We've been fortunate in that we've had two decent 'keepers in our squad over the last two seasons. First Blackman, who overall performed competently and at times impressively. Then Wilder brought in Henderson, who, may I suggest, is an upgrade on Blackman in my opinion. Whether we can retain Henderson's services is doubtful, which would be a shame as he's done enough so far to inform us that his quality and all round competency is more than enough for us to want him to remain here.

Our current boardroom situation doesn't bode well for the immediate future, but should it be resolved, then there's a possibility for potential new owners to appear, with what I can only hope will be the level of investment that supports the ambitions of our manager. Of course, it could amount to no more than wishful thinking, but retaining a player like Henderson would be a great indicator to where we might be headed.

Here's something for you to think about. Players at the highest level who have scored a ton of goals include Rooney, Shearer, Rush et al. Players at lower levels of the league who have scored goals by the bucket load include Tommy Tynan, Ernie Moss and Keith Edwards. Billy will be bracketed with the latter group in future history books and will be remembered at a local level only as are these whether you like it or not. This makes them average in the grand scheme of football.

Personally, I don't give a fuck. I love him as he is and for what he does for us. The great/average/poor categorisation is as irrelevant as it is irreverent.

He's a fabulous player and we're VERY lucky to have him.

Think Topsplayers leave is just offering some balance.

It’s like asking who was the best striker between Keith Edwards, Brian Deane and Billy Sharp.
Objectively speaking Deane scored many goals in the top tier.
Billy Sharp scored most of his goals in the 2nd tier
And Keith Edwards scored loads of goals in the 3rd and 4th tier.

So there’s a clear arguement that Brian Deane was the best of the 3, then Sharp followed by Edwards. Deane was also on the fringes of playing for England too where as both Sharp and Edwards were never given a chance in the top flight.

Agree that we’re lucky to have Sharp, there’s not many finishers about.
Also in some ways he’s getting better with age, like many things suspect he’ll be appreciated more after he’s finished playing.

The fact that Gunn is not only better, but also 3 years younger will play a part.

Unfortunately for us, Henderson is both younger and better still - I couldn't see Man Utd entertaining a bit of anything less than £15m unless they are feeling charitable.
