Normally when he comes off the bench he looks mardy as fuck and has very little impact. Different today, looked like he has the bit between his teeth again. Let’s hope he’s back to what we saw last season, god knows we need it.

Dronny, your obsession stems from obsession . Obsession is your agenda . Clarke is your obsession . We understand your obsession with Clarke. We read about your obsession with Clarke. We know your thoughts regarding Clarke and we recognise your obsession with him .
Would you care to challenge what I have stated ?

Would anyone ?

Dronny .

Why on gods green earth following a great win today would I want to question your obsession with Leon Clarke? You're obsessed by him and we all know you are . What's to question ?

My obsessive relates purely and simply to genuine, without fear of contradiction, misrepresentation of the facts.

And I am an accused of an agenda ;)

#perception>reality!

UTB
Don’t you know that perception IS REALITY in the eye of the beholder?

My perception of Leon today is that he came on and played his part in a great team performance.
My hope is that his performance will give him a bit of confidence going forward.
The FACT (reality) is that he scored the goal that took the game completely away from FLDC

Summary of Clarke’s 17 minute cameo.

Nudges Keogh off the ball and pass to Stevens incomplete @ 80:32.

2 short completed passes shortly after.

Goal at 83:40. Worth noting the Header is straight at keeper and goes in off defenders flicked header. We were due some luck !

Harries Derby defender (Tomori ?) at 91:56 causing to miss header.

Gives away free kick for high foot at 93:22.

Challenges for header at 94:32 but loses battle.

Some decent work to retain possession in last minute of game nr corner flag “

That is it. WITHOUT FEAR OF CONTRADICTION, that is it.

Now if this constitutes “he looked like his old self during the time he was on. Harried and outmuscled their defence, good touch and caused all sorts of problems. One chance, one finish” then my version of what good looks like is fundamentally different to quite a few of you !!

UTB
I find this bordering on the perverse.

He comes on ,he scores, he makes other teamates relax and play better possibly, he has a presence ( stated previously by CW), and has the team's respect. He scores the fucking clincher that nails it down.

And you have the motivation to post about him in a pejorative/negative way?

Takes allsorts.

On the one hand If you take it that there are 22 men on the pitch then over a 90 minute game they will each have the ball for approximately four minutes each. As you know the ball is not in play for 90 minutes and, from stats I recall recently, the ball is only in play about 60 minutes per game. With that being the case the average time each player is in possession is now under three minutes a game.
As Clarke came on for the last 10 minute plus injury time then he was on the field for about one sixth of the match. That means he would have been in possession of the ball for about 30 seconds. In that time he did what you say, including scoring a goal.
On the other hand I am not anally retentive and saw a decent football game between two well matched sides. They had the better of the first half and we had the better of the second. There was a good penalty shout, four well taken goals, a goal mouth melee, a fine goal celebration from Billy and a row between the managers. I call that entertainment. You need to sit down and look at yourself before posting.

So no then !

I repeat, happy and delighted with Leon’s goal.

But my eyeballs don’t deceive me. More than can be said for others.

My motivation was to challenge a rather inaccurate OP, compounded by a number of other inaccurate ones.

Nothing more.

Never intended to reply. I am just stating pointless statistics like you did to make your case. Don't you feel just a little bit sad that you had to go through the last 17 minutes of a decent game and sit there with a notepad and pen to make an irrelevant point about what Clarke did/did not do in that time.

I suggest you go back and do the same exercise for the other 21 players on the pitch (and substitutes) so that we can get an accurate view of who did what to whom and when and see what results you get. A sample of one is not sufficicient for true empirical evidence.

Quote “Pointless statistics”.

Tells it’s own story ;)

And when someone starts an OP stating that player X did this that and the other that, in the universe I occupy, DID NOT HAPPEN, I will do exactly what you suggest.

Missed excellent chance in first 15 - should have given keeper no chance.

Miscontrolled, ball out of play.

Scored good headed goal.

Great pull back to him 10 yards outs. Miscontrolled. Chance goes begging.

Free header 6 yards out to seal game. Misses goal.

Now I thought Billy had a great game and caused them a lot of problems.

If we hadn’t won, he’d have been getting plenty of stick. He often gets the caveat of the service being poor. It wasn’t the case yesterday and on another day his profligacy costs us.

He had an excellent game, don’t get me wrong but easy to pick fault if you go looking for it.

End of the day, Leon was on less than 20 minutes and scored. That’s an excellent impact to a game.

Again.

Misrepresentation of the truth.

Does this “summary” as above represent the entire 90 minutes / every single moment in the game the player was involved ? Or are you cherry picking ?

I didn’t !

It becomes abundantly clear that the “Mandela effect” is real, alive and that the gateway to this parallel or alternative universe has its epicentre at BDTBL :);)

UTB

P.s. for those of you that don’t know, should it be so required !!

Sharp misses easy chances. Often. An unassailable proposition.

He played excellently yesterday, despite missing easy chances. Again, an unassailable proposition.

Define “easy” ?

Not so straightforward as you might think ;)

Maybe these additional club website sourced stats will help you, covering all 4 of our strikers !

Easy ? Not quite so straightforward ;)

I’m afraid they’re right mate. You have an obsession.

Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke both have excellent qualities at this level. Different qualities. Both have significant flaws too. That’s why both, like Idiot Edwards before them, have forged impressive careers below the top flight in English football.

My obsession lies within the fact that inconvenient truths are out there. As unpopular as they may be.

And that there are boatloads of folks on this very forum that consistently portray the actual facts with uncanny levels of inaccuracy.

See my previous post on “Mandela effect” or false memories.

For moi, it is no longer a case of if this phenomena takes place, as this is clear and in plain sight. It’s more so why ??

Fascinating :)

UTB

The bitterness is palpable...

Strange that it’s aimed towards one of our own players though. I remember when Wednesday fans were saying similar about Clarke not being good enough. It’s been a while since I’ve heard one of them say it...

FFS, can't we just be happy with a great victory against the east Midlands cockneys? I don't do stats, analysis, or whatever. I go, watch, shout, swear, and at times ( and lots yesterday), sing! We played like we can, it was fun, enjoyable, and we put one over on one of the Entitled. Leon did exactly what he's paid to do, as did the whole team. Be happy.
