A brief cameo today but I thought he looked like his old self during the time he was on. Harried and outmuscled their defence, good touch and caused all sorts of problems. One chance, one finish.

If we could get a 4 or 5 goal streak from him over the next few games, along with Billy and McG in the goals we really could get a huge boost.

Most noticeable was that he was smiling after the goal. I don’t see him smile that much and had a reight beemer after that

I suspect that this season has been a real frustration so far, so today will be a huge boost for him. the last time he looked like that was when he was banging them in last season.

I also think people misinterpret his usual demeanor as being someone who can't be arsed, or is a bit miserable. Having met the bloke a couple of seasons back I can say that he is really sound. Down to earth, chilled and very humble but also very driven to do well. Widler wouldn't have given him the armband otherwise.

Scored. Which is good.

But let’s not pretend he was great. He wasn’t.

Accepted it was a limited appearance, in which not too much can realistically be expected. So to score is, in the circumstances, vitally important. I do not wish to diminish that.

But “caused all sorts of problems” ?

Nah mate.

That accolade goes to Sharp today.

It's a matter of opinion and I know you don't rate the bloke ;)

I thought he was exactly what we needed at the time. Their defence was flakey all second half so we needed someone in to exploit it, rough them up and give them a headache. I think he did that really well.

And none of what I have said takes anything away from Billy, or McG who were both immense today. Unplayable at times, as I stated in my earlier thread.

Yeah have met him before a genuinely nice bloke. I know he’s been up and down this season but it’s definitely not down to lack of effort from him.

We get him even half as good as last season he’ll be a real asset

He won headers, flicked the ball on, scored a goal and got back to defend.

What else could he have done?

I was waiting for the lad to come on, thought Keogh and the number 5 were weak and Clarke would have ragged em to bits. Wilder puts him on late but I said he'll still bag and lo and behold....

sharp missed 2 really good chances , but hes not getting the stick clarke and mcgoldrick gets
thought norwood was well off his game , his shot at goal when layed back to him reminded me of our goal keepers play off final penalty

we get it , you dont like him if he gets 3 v blackburn wont be enough

Its like Leon always needs to justify himself to our fans and for me he's more than proven his worth .We know his body language can be languid at times but his ability has never been beyond doubt and he'll have a major part to play this season.

Think he cost hundred grand didn’t he? For the goal return he’s had I’d say he’s been one of our best acquisitions in a long time

Summary of Clarke’s 17 minute cameo.

Nudges Keogh off the ball and pass to Stevens incomplete @ 80:32.

2 short completed passes shortly after.

Goal at 83:40. Worth noting the Header is straight at keeper and goes in off defenders flicked header. We were due some luck !

Harries Derby defender (Tomori ?) at 91:56 causing to miss header.

Gives away free kick for high foot at 93:22.

Challenges for header at 94:32 but loses battle.

Some decent work to retain possession in last minute of game nr corner flag “

That is it. WITHOUT FEAR OF CONTRADICTION, that is it.

Now if this constitutes “he looked like his old self during the time he was on. Harried and outmuscled their defence, good touch and caused all sorts of problems. One chance, one finish” then my version of what good looks like is fundamentally different to quite a few of you !!

He did well and scored, he had to be there to score the goal deflected or not.

Can’t we just be happy?

I am happy. And delighted that he has scored, what was / is a vital goal at a vital time.

What’s not to be happy about ?

But when dumplings post Shyte like he won headers (plural) and flick ons (plural) which in the UNIVERSE I OCCUPY SIMPLY NEVER HAPPENED, than I simply have to challenge what is being stated (as fact) when it 100%, is not.

A genuine case of the perception > the reality !!

It’s getting a bit obsessive this now my old mukka. :)

Clarke has been poor much of this season but he did well when he came on today. Trying to argue otherwise is daft.

I was at Ipswich and when he came on I thought his link-up play and general manoeuvrability was below what we’d expect. Today was the polar opposite and it was encouraging to see.

Dronny, your obsession stems from obsession . Obsession is your agenda . Clarke is your obsession . We understand your obsession with Clarke. We read about your obsession with Clarke. We know your thoughts regarding Clarke and we recognise your obsession with him .

I was waiting for this post today, I knew it would put an even bigger smile on my face. The bitterness is palpable.
