Kraft durch Freude
So we reach the halfway point of the season and will have now played every team in the Championship.
I’ve already done three of these ‘Memries of Ipswich’ – Part One, Part Two and Part Three.
We last met the Tractor Boys on March 10th earlier this year, when a totally-uninspiring 0-0 draw was played out at Portman Road in front of just 15,152. There were just 11 games of the 2017-18 season left and we would win only three more games that season.
Full history v Ipswich Town.
We’ve met Ipswich in the League a total of 62 times so far:
Home: P:31 W:14 D:9 L: 8 F:52 A:34
Away: P:31 W:4 D:13 L:14 F:25 A:47
Championship Table:
Currently rock-bottom of the Championship with just two wins out of 22 games, The Tractor Boys recorded only their second win last Saturday (15th) with a 1-0 home win against Wigan Athletic. ‘New manager bounce’? Whatever, but this game is one where anything less than 3 points for the Blades would be totally unacceptable.

Form Guide: (Last six league games - latest on the right).
United bumble along in mid-table with eight points from the last six games. Ipswich's win on Saturday lifts them to 20th place but still only four points out of the last 18.

Ipswich Top Scorers:
Without Martyn Waghorn’s 16 league goals last season, it’s no surprise that Ipswich are struggling to score (just 18 goals in 22 games) with only Bolton – 15 goals in 22 games - having a poorer return. Freddie Sears remains a dangerous player.

The Manager:
Much-travelled Paul Lambert is now on his 9th managerial job. His most productive spell came while he was at near-neighbours Norwich City. In 2009-10, he led the Canaries to be champions of League One and the following year (2010-11) to runners-up in The Championship, thus gaining promotion to the Premier League. Since then? Nothing.

Ipswich are being linked with a move for Middlesbrough’s Rudy Gestede in the January Transfer Window.
