Could even be more , we have a club, a Manager, and a team that neutrals admire, respect, and enjoy watching. I've even seen it said that they aspire to have a team and a Manager like we have.
We might be slightly short of challenging for promotion, and that is no surprise to anyone given the background and cost of the team, but I have to say that I glow with pride with the weekly comments from rival fans, neutrals and pundits alike.
Ok we need a bit more magic from Chris, as it doesn't look like the owners are going to come up trumps any time soon, but he is the man to do it. He has magic within his capabilities, I just hope he stays around long enough to prove it. I'm enjoying the ride, and old enough and wise enough to take the minor knocks in my stride.

Much as I would hate to lose them, Chris and Knilly must look after themselves and deserve a crack at managing a club with more ambition and backing than what he will ever get at the Lane. Chris is a vastly experienced Manager with a decent record lower down the leagues. He has since won many admirers with his exploits with us. I pray that he does get what he wants in the Jan transfer window or surely he will call time on his time at the Lane.

We don't deserve Chris, and when we lose him (and we will) we will only have ourselves(the club) to blame.

I'm having to tone my pig baiting down a bit just incase it's this season he walks.

Name me a club.

Generally I'm fairly rational about how the club is run, but just this once I get the feeling that we have a case of "while Rome burns Nero is playing his fiddle".

Never could two owners have chosen to contest ownership at a more crucial moment for matters on the pitch. Just when we look(ed) as if we could compete at the top of the Championship, our manager is told that the best the owners can do is provide funds for a maximum of 3 loan players. It's hugely deflating, and if there was any chance of us securing promotion I suspect it may have shrunk to the point of being barely possible.

I get that we shouldn't risk bankruptcy, I get that the weekly overhead that keeps us buoyant needs to be paid, but what exactly has brought the club to this point? Has the Prince failed to meet the obligations he agreed to if we achieved promotion? Clearly Kev wants rid of his ownership position, isn't it part of the reason why he invited the Prince to join him is enabling the club to progress? No doubt the impending court case will reveal far more than we're currently aware of, but it still doesn't soften the feeling that remaining in or around the top four positions in this division, we now appear to be unable to compete against other promotion chasing teams. There's still a lot of games left so perhaps I'll regret writing this, but I get the feeling that we may have missed this particular boat. The consequence of failure could be the departure of key personnel, but time will tell, let's hope my pessimism is a massive misjudgement.

When CW does leave we will fall into one of three paths.

Best case scenario: we become Ipswich under McCarthy, solid mid to lower mid table Championship side.

Middle case scenario: we become another Barnsley yo yo ing between League one and the Championship every couple of years.

Worst Case scenario: we become another Rotherham and spend the majority of our time in League one with the occasional visit to the Championship.

I think I would prefer the middle case out of those three, at least there would be some excitement. nearly 20 years of nothing happening like at Ipswich would be hard graft.
