We were sloppy in the second half,
their goal was offside, Baldock switched off,
Billy had his chance but all in all they are a very good side.
Barry was immense that second half and their pace up top scared us to death.
If we had got that second in the first half then who knows, but no complaints from me, they have the ability to pay a wage bill that we could only dream of.
I daren't say "We move on" because I know people on here hate that but on to the next game and just keep our chin up, you never know- these 3 loans in January could be amazing.

We lack the final bit of quality that those teams have. It’s something you have to pay good money for and we simply don’t have it.

United will dominate against almost all of their Championship opposition but they will ultimately lose to those teams that have players from a higher bracket. Our lack of spending power will be our undoing.

Their second wasn't offside. Sky showed a replay & Stevens (I think) played him onside.

When you give players like Barnes & Phillips the freedom of Sheffield, you're asking for trouble and they duely punished us for it. Far, far to many individual mistakes. Simple passes misplaced either going out or to the opposition, making wrong decisions in possession & not picking their main attacking outlets up when we don't have the ball.

Were simply not quite good enough for a serious promotion push just yet, but we're close.

West Brom are 3 decent defenders away from running away with this league. While ever sky are funding relegated teams wage bills with parachute payments there's going to be that gap between those that can pay the money required for that extra quality at this level and us. I would guess that their starting 11's weekly wage bill is roughly the same as what our 11 get in a month

They were so much better than us 2nd half, but their second goal was offside.

I expected the equaliser would take a bit of momentum out of the blades but that was an awful second half performance, totally outplayed by a 38 year old and physically they were so superior. For all our good football we just don’t have that power and pace that can turn a game round when the game gets stretched

Sorry but I don’t have your confidence!!. We were piss poor in that 2nd half and we were bloody fortunate to only concede 2 IMHO.
As for the amazing 3 loan players we’re gonna get??. What drugs are you on?. Lol
We’ll end up with league 1 strikers who couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo!!. Yes West Brom were good tonight in that 2nd half but we made them look good with innept passing and general poor play!!.
A very pissed off Liverpool blade!. UTB

I thought they were the best side we’ve played all season. Harvey Barnes looks some player. Imagine if we got results against the stronger sides though ey?

Good game though. These are good teams we’re playing and we’re going toe to toe. I love that about Wilder. The moment where O’Connell gave it away on the oppositions byline and then West Brom butchered a 3 on 1 in our half epitomised it. At least we have an identity, it’s no wonder Sky / neutrals like us. Regardless of opposition and regardless of whether we’re home, or away we’re Sheff Utd and we’re here for the win.

It’s becoming clear now that this style will get punished by the better sides. However, if we sat back we’d eventually get unlocked by these better teams anyway. I’d rather go down swinging.

For what it’s worth, I think WBA will go up automatically with Villa. Their attacking options will be too much for most.

You can't have it both ways.

There was a wise old Brazilian coach who said "football is like a short blanket, if you cover your head your feet are exposed, and vice versa"

We are attempting to take the game to the opposition and inevitably it means we will be open at the back. As has been said already, we could have conceded more than one in the second half.

On the other hand we could have scored more than one in the first half. It's pretty much the final ball that's letting things down, every time.

Agree, we might not win but there’s always decent entertainment.

Also I agree, on paper Villa and West Brom have the best players.

There’s another saying about the basketball player who married a dwarf...

“Nose to nose, the toes go in, toes to toes, the nose goes in”

I saw the replay, and I still thought he was off. I heard the commentator say "he's just on" but I dont agree with him either :p

As much as it pains me to say, with all the good fortune they are having I think it will be Leeds joining WBA.
