Blackman, one of the best run ups iv seen pre pen
Baxter, never put it in the same place and he could put them anywhere, pity he hasn't got a brain!

To be honest, although he had a 100% record until Friday night I wasn't convinced about Didsy as a penalty taker....the ones he scored were fortunate....side foot, low power and too close to the keeper....for me it was only a matter of time before hi missed one!

Really wish Billy had taken it, he would have just smashed it down the middle.

Going back some years, but I can't remember Ronnie Simpson ever missing one. Perhaps Silent can confirm?
Will check when I get home. Saw a photo of him taking one against Manchester City in 1961-62 season. Blasted it to the roof of the net.

You tart...I was going to do sommat similar....:D:D:D

To Me Colin Morris...did he ever miss one...begs the question...

After Goldie's unfortunate and not great penalty on Friday it got me thinking about penalty takers over the years and who was the greatest to watch and who you had most confidence in scoring it ?

Personally Beattie has got to be up there , loved the run up and quick turn and dispatched usually right in the corner , did he miss one for us ? got a feeling he missed one ?

Whitehouse -loved his penalties - top corner , hit with power and pace and don't think he ever missed one !?!

earlier days remember Duffield being a very trusted penalty taker , From memory always seemed top put them right in the corners - again not sure if missed any ?

Blackman had a great Pen to and very calm / assured penalties and pretty sure he was 100% successful

???
international break eh?
go on then andy gray.. curveball :)

woody .. no brainer

Roger Nilsen - 100% record.

Billy Sharp, doesn't matter if he misses, he still steps up again to take the next one as he always backs himself to score
Not now he doesn't though I accept the general point.
Hasn't he agreed with McG and CW to let who is scoring, continue?
His last miss handed over to McG.
Who now hands over to him.

I don't think that mentality should always be lauded once you've missed one or two. That isn't a dig at Billy, I'm talking generally.

Beckham was a crap penalty taker but continually kept stepping up and arguably cost England at least getting deeper into tournaments, and maybe even winning in Portugal.

The original and the best, when you consider what was at stake
Shame he didn't play for us,

But I'd love one of our players to be so good that they'd have the sheer audacity to do this
