The lad turns 29 in a few months. They'll do well to get that for him.

Rivalries aside, I suppose that £8m is 'normal' now for someone who is in good form in this league. We were lucky getting Norwood for peanuts.

On that basis, we've assembled a midfield of Coutts, Fleck, Norwood, Duffy which is worth £80 Million for just £2 Million as i think we only paid a fee for Norwood didn't we and if Bannan is worth £8, then our 4 are worth £20 each

We paid Derby a fee for Coutts but still, four midfielders better than Barry Bannan for less than a third of the quoted price of Barry Bannan is ridiculous business.#

On the theme of ridiculous: the name Barry Bannan. Banny Barran. Bellend Bellend.

I agree. Though £20m not £20.

We got Norwood for a figure that I still cannot get my head around, the figures that are being paid for players now is nothing short of ridiculous, not as if Norwood was even a gamble the guy has proven pedigree with back to back promotions with two different teams. £10m is no longer a figure only paid by top half PL teams its a figure paid by top half Championship teams in order to get out of the league anyway I digress.

Returning to the topic in hand, believe Bannan signed a new contract in Sept for them lot which is a blessing for them because he does have resale value still. he is some player for sure dispite what the Red n White opinion maybe on him

Anybody want him now based on last nights performance ?

Played a couple of good passes. Got booked for a nasty foul. Generally niggled and exploited the lenient ref. Gave it away a lot.

To be honest, I think it was a reflection of the shithouse of a team he played for.

Have to disagree. Thought he was pretty good for them last night. One of their few players (possibly their only one) who understood the occasion and what was at stake and he got into us a bit. Put in some good tackles and used the ball pretty well.

Our midfield faded again last night. They’re outstanding when they’re in the ascendancy, but I have noticed that the quality does drop as games go on. Norwood in particular, went from Rolls Royce to Peugeot.

........ we so dominated possession that we were 'camped out' round the edge of their penalty area and because they had 'parked the bus' there, it was close to stalemate. It's quite common for this to happen to us - the play just gets bunged up, its like if you filled a bottle up with rice and tried to pour it out - it wouldn't work would it?

we have to entice the opposition's players out of their half (or penalty area) in order to get round them, it's more of a gambling game but hey, that's football isn't it? When I watch us, it seems that if we don't score early on; when the play is always more open, we get stuck in the bottle-neck.

I reckon, if you don't have a seriously gifted forward or two + a creative midfield, you'll never get that much using our system, our last pass into the box is usually just guesswork and 50/50 compared to the carefully directed passes earlier on, further back in the move. (we had a seriously gifted forward last season but he's gone before we saw the best of him IMO). But I doubt we'll have a player of Brook's calibre for the next 50 years so we have to play a riskier game somehow to open up the opposition defence. (Look how good Brooks made Leon Clarke look)

Coutts might have made a difference in the second half last night because when he combines with Duffy and Fleck the trio can be unpredictable which is the essence of beating a player and hence, a team. I'm right in thinking that Norwood and Coutts on the field simultaneously has barely been tried yet?

and for me, McGoldrick was our man of the match.

Very very average although that was probably the first time iv'e seen him in the flesh.

Wouldn't ever swap him for Fleck EVER!

As much as it pains me to say it, Bannan is a player I really rate for the oinkers . But he was dreadful Friday night . He was shocking in relation to keeping the ball and aside from one or two tackles and running about a lot he was anonymous . I suppose that's what happens to the better players in a team when you're forced to play along side seven defenders .

Rumour I heard was that our feathered underlings have accepted bids for Bannan for January........

And Reach and Forestieri too!

I heard Bannan gave Forestieri a Reach round.

Think Wolves were rumoured to have tabled a bid for Reach, in advance of January.

just been on pork talk and they’re all shitting themselves saying Wilders enquired

FFS!

NO!

This is as bad as them having a thread saying 'were all spaffing over the idea of Forestieri'.

We're not....

They're not.
