Wilder has had massive success by sticking to basics and principles. By sticking to a trusted formation. By sticking to a trusted first 11.

So don't wander from this Chris, no matter the opposition, no matter the players knocking on your door, no matter what players have done well in the past.

Keep what's working now and drive that forward.

Today's examples:

Coutts is a favourite of the fans and obviously the managment but right now we have an identical player in Norwood that is currently playing better football. Shoe horning them both into the 11 compromises our style of play. Coutts isn't ready yet and until he is it's Norwood's shirt.

McGoldrick stood in for Duffy brilliantly last week so don't take him out of the team, it makes no sense. McGoldrick has become a fans favourite with his quality and work rate so why drop him today? Especially with a point to prove against a former employee.

We play 3 centre halves, Bash has been the pick this season so why play Cranie instead of a quality defender like Stearman? It's great we have enough depth to keep a quality operator like Stearman out of the side but when their's a gap due to suspension why keep him on the bench for a half fit journeyman?

We all make mistakes but today's seem strange. Don't over think it Chris.

Coutts because Duffy is injured and we don't know if he'll be fit for Friday, and McGoldrick is one card away from a suspension so couldn't play there either from the off due to the likelihood of him being booked for a strikers challenge early on. Also if Duffy isn't fit and McG is suspended we're buggered on Friday.

Maybe should have given Johnson or Woodburn a go but they're unproven.

And yeah, 3 points is 3 points is 3 points but he wants to put the best possible team out against Wednesday.

Cranie did well I thought, bit nosebleedy when going forward, and obviously isn't Bash, but he's the obvious choice as a right sided CB whereas Egan and Stearman step on each others toes because they both want to be in the middle imo. No it didn't, but when you make forced changes you have to rely on your regulars taking up any slack. They didn't, changes didn't really mean anything in the end because the people we actually needed, Bash and Duff, Wilder had no say in whether or not they played.

If he's played McG from the off and he gets booked, he's out of the derby, and then if Duffy isn't fit we've no real choice but to play Coutts and Norwood given he's unlikely to give Woodburn a go in the Duffy role.

It is and to be fair, he's said before today Coutts and Norwood together won't work but we don't really know Wilders thinking.

By all accounts, Norwood was poor. You can't factor that into tactics.

Good choice today. OK, we lost to a single goal but we kept the in form forest out for most of the game. We made them look mediocre. It was always going to be difficult today..... shit happens. Cranie had a good debut and coutts had a good run out. Well don CW for getting round the CB suspension. Let’s push on UTB

Bash is not Coutts or Norwood, completely different entity. Coutts is not fit yet and cannot play with Norwood.

No it's never pointless, it's learning from mistakes and moving forward that counts. News good or bad is a point in time. It's all about decisions.

Prior to beating us, Forest had won twice in the last seven games in all competitions. Last time out getting their tummies tickled by the footballing powerhouse that is Burton Albion. They weren’t in form.

Forest looked mediocre against us, because they are a mediocre side. Mediocre sides need to be beaten if we want to get promoted. Forest still trade on a 30 yr old reputation. If we’d put that performance in against another side, it’d be catching more flack.

Whatever the question is, Cranie isn’t the answer. I thought he was poor.
