The interviewers are former Preston players Jon Parkin and Chris Brown. Don't think Megson has a great reputation in the game with players from what I've heard myself. Hopefully Wednesday take him back on.

Darren Huckerby criticised Megson's coaching style, when explaining why he chose to sign for Norwich City, instead of Megson's West Bromwich Albion. "I told him I didn't like the way he coached, I didn't like the way he shouted at his players and didn't like the way he treated seasoned professionals like 15-year-olds. I was just being honest with him. I said: 'I've seen you on the sidelines and you look like a crazed animal'".[32] According to Huckerby, Megson's response was that "He told me that was how he had to work with his players".[32]




apparently he still has a lovely garden.

I find it staggering how many Wednesday fans want him back. He had a good spell at West Bromwich but is hated everywhere else he has been. A shit Warnock tribute.

There were plenty of Warnock haters on here who were keen to believe Megson’s version of the truth.
 
Confirms all that was suspected.

Santos wanted to do Johnson, and did, Suffo lost his head, and that would have been that. But Brown and Ullathorne picked up genuine injuries.

Megson, the ultimate pig, then saw an opportunity to have a pop at Sheff Utd in the Hope of points being deducted and to drop us back towards a relegation battle. ( we weren’t that secure in mid table if six points had gone west)

I don’t particularly like Warnock but he did nothing at all wrong in this game as the fourth official and FA investigation proved.

Megson is an utter out and out arsehole.
 
Warnock's book pretty much confirms Brown's version of events. Although Brown didn't say, according to Warnock, Brown didn't play again that season due to the injury he sustained.

Of course neither Santos or Suffo played for United ever again after that game.

That's just poor man management, it shows a crucial lack of understanding or basic squad psychology.

They're just desperate for their version of Wilder, that's what it boils down to. They've over spent, are underachieving and underwhelming and know pretty soon, financially they're up against it. They want a Wilder type to come in and work miracles on the shoestring they know they'll soon have to work with.

- has a father who played over 400 games for Wednesday and captained them in the Cup Final
- was brought up as a Wednesdayite
- made over 250 appearances for Wednesday in two spells
- has managed Wednesday

He's possibly the most pro-Wednesday and therefore anti-Blade person on the planet.

As for the Battle of Bramall Lane, one thing Warnock does not mention in the section of his book about the matter is that the club fired him during an emergency board meeting held after the game. He managed to talk his way back into the job over the next 24 hours. For this reason, amongst others, I always take Warnock's version of what happened that day with a pinch of salt.
 



He glosses over the reasons for the Santos tackle a bit for me. Whenever this game comes up in conversation with non-Blades I explain what Johnson did to Santos in that Forest game and how serious the injury was, and they usually had no idea.

If I could ask Georges one thing it would be why he didn’t go for Johnson’s standing leg.

Also I swear I saw a WBA player throw a punch in the aftermath, and having not seen Suffo’s headbutt I thought that was what the next red card was for :(

I also must say that although it was Browny and Morgs on this one, I felt that it was a bit rushed and too short. They didn't seem to give Morgs enough air time. It was a live one at BDTBL so I suppose it would have been unfair on the paying customers to play the whole thing...
 
One thing they don’t mention, which always sticks out for me... brown was talking about the ref not wanting to send people off, but he doesn’t mention Keith Curle who, at one point, virtually assaulted WBA’s centre forward and the ref just waves play on. It was utter madness and possibly the most enjoyable game I had attended up to that date. I was about 11, what a day that was!

I still think the whole thing looked dodgy from the moment we went down to 8 men. I can’t for the life of me explain why Keith Curle was kicking every opponent in sight almost trying to get sent off: I can also distinctly remember Brown jogging straight down the tunnel. As for an explanation for Browns interview above, I think it could be explained as “closing ranks”.

They ask whether Clough would be able to manage now and I think it’s obvious the answer is “no”. Would be good if all managers got together and refused to deal with agents though!

Megson was all over it after the game, accusing us of cheating. Later when things calmed down and it emerged players were genuinely injured he said the matter was nothing to do with him and wouldn't talk about it.
 
Santos went easy on Johnson; if Johnson had done that to me I'd have put that tackle in on his knee and put him out of the game for the following season at least.

I’ll never forget the forest game at BDTBL that lit the fuse to the tackle. They had Platt as manager and were meant to be this exspansive passing side, playing the game in the right way, but they set about us that day like a team of ale house brawlers from some south yorks/north notts/north east derbyshire ex pit village. They weren’t playing for 3 points that game, more trying to settle things with two falls, two submissions or a knockout. And when they called for Mrs Santos over the tannoy, I honestly thought they’d managed to kill him.
