cheers Roy and well done for finding all those comments , must be one for each Wigan fan there is !

by the sounds of it , we now know the next two home games will be against teams that will park the bus

You do realise you've just made everyone start to panic about Wigan away 2 months before it happens?

"Oh bloody hell, he's nailed on to have a blinder now, after we blocked him from playing against us first time..."
Yeh, it's not as though we've ever been bitten on the arse by a player who moved to Wigan from us is it!

Cheers Roy, pessimistic lot aren't they? We must make sure they are still pessimistic at 5pm tomorrow.

I thought it at the time but even more so now - I wonder if Millwall are paying a bit more in the transfer fee to allow them to play him whereas Wigan didn't.

Milwall paid a lot more money for Leonard and clearly had it written into the contract that he could play. Mr Cook ought to be having a word with the person who dealt with Evans contract at Wigan as clearly we can dictate whether he plays or not. Makes a nice change for us to have a clause in our favour rather than us having our trousers down by the buying club :D

Nothing wrong with seeking to maximise your own sides advantage in any game which clearly CW has decided to do. No doubt Cook would have done the same thing if the roles were reversed

UTB

Correct it seems we caved into Millwall's demand for Leonard to play to ensure they paid £1.4 million. It seems Wigan didn't raise this option in their negotiations so their problem not ours. Cook needs to do a bit more research before he sounds off.

I can't see Wigan getting much out of this game either, Paul Jewell rarely leaves the lane with anything.

Cook is quite understandably furious: https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/fo...ield-united-s-decision-on-lee-evans-1-9415195

You can view it from both sides. Wilder in the same position would be equally annoyed you’d have thought, but ultimately is more bothered about Evans than he was Leonard, which again reiterates the ridiculousness of some that went overboard on the fact Leonard was cleared to play.

I can see there being a rule change in the future to remove the loaning club’s rights in situations where a permanent deal has been agreed.

I don't think he quite grasps it...

I don't see what the whining is about anyway. If you want to make sure a player is yours and you can play him whenever you want, you buy him. If you don't, if you miss the window, if you take a loan, then you can't complain when the full benefits of ownership don't apply. It's not difficult.

Cheers Roy. Talk about pessimism or what!!!. Let’s hope that pessimism continues after Saturday?. UTB

Leonard laid on a goal. It was a daft decision and remains one.

I am pleased to hear we have it right re Evans.
Leonard and Evans are two different cases millwall. Paid the asking price which was way above what we paid and the agreement allowed him to play. No such agreement with Wigan and so blades holding Evans back as he is a loan until January , Wilder no idiot well done to him

Should have stuck to the day job.

Don't be too harsh on them. We'd all be depressed if we had to live in Wigan! My God! What a place! Or at least, what a place it was! I haven't been back there for years. Last time I went they were digging it up, bloody roadworks and railway sleepers everywhere around the town centre. Desperate! Always found the folks to be decent though - but you're right, this lot sound like they are ready to top themselves! I'd definitely advise them not to travel if that's the case, because they won't feel any happier at 5pm tomorrow.

England is the only country where loan players can't play against parent clubs I believe? And that's absolutely stupid imo

I have the misfortune to pass through Wigan on the train to Sheffield from Liverpool. It looks a shithole from the train!!. My wife has been there for a meeting and described the place as depression in solid form!!!. The scousers call people from there Woolybacks.
