Make United Fun Again
I sup it in the Dev Cat, really is a cracking pint. Derby making an effort shows how simple it is, why is everything so fucking difficult for our club to change its ways one iota where catering is concerned, even if is to everyone's benefit, including theirs.
I think a bit of it is to do with where newer grounds are situated. Derby's ground, for example, is not exactly the middle of nowhere but there's not a great deal around it. That's why it's coated with Subway and the like. I don't know if they still do it, but Brighton used to deck out the away concourses for visiting fans with loads of local gear, colour schemes, legends of that particular club etc. Again, their ground is in the middle of nowhere. Bramall Lane is surrounded by pubs and eateries and most who prefer a nice pint are quite happy to wait
It'd be great if United had Heathen, Deception etc. on the bar, but would it get supped? Do people who have a drink at the ground really care what they're drinking, or is it simply a more fun alternative to sitting and watching the half-time 'entertainment'?
Where clubs fail massively is when they build a new ground and still serve utter shite. It gives clubs a bad name. I seem to recall a friend getting a rather squitty bottom after a pie at Reading's Madejski? Think a similar story was told about Wigan?
The only thing I miss about League 1 is the lovely locally sourced catering stuff you often got. Bury and Rochdale served fucking incredible pies, particularly Bury.
