Tin hat on for me here.
I thought Tracey was quite decent but he was no Alan kelly.
I always thought that Kelly was more professional, steady and consistent. Tracey was prone to doing something utterly ridiculous, however was on (many) occasions completely outstanding and produced some world class displays. Not sure if his penchant for the bookies had an impact on his career but we were blessed for a time with some superb men between the sticks.

I'd love us and Leeds to go up automatically this season.

M<y first thought was that no Blade could even begin to think that but then.....

Wednesday fans would implode.

Hmmm, I see what you mean.

The trouble is that DirtyLeeds would get all the media attention and the 3 hour 'promotion special' with us tagged along in the closing credits.

Nah, on balance I prefer this from SW12 to S12 to S18 :

I’d love leeds to be relegated. With the pigs.

A hairy day indeed. The atmosphere was like a Nuremburg Rally (not that I've ever been to one...), John Gannon's girlfriend was hit by a flying bottle in the Lowfield Stand. Leeds fans were - and remain - utter scum.

The section about the police is relevant in that nothing has changed - and how insightful was Reg Brealy ?

I think the Leeds/Blades hatred is an age thing.

Most Blades fans over the age of 40 seem to hate Leeds with a passion but younger fans like myself just aren't arsed.

Leeds are as inconsequential to me as Ipswich or Reading. I don't see them as rivals in any way.

I'd quite like to see Leeds back in the Premier League actually. They've been away for far too long.

Agree with this. I'm 41 and have no real recollection of any major rivalry between us, or knowledge of what would seem to be the shithouse of a side they were in the 70s. I recall losing Edwards to them, and more painfully, Deane, but you can't blame Leeds for that. You will probably see something similar with West Ham in a few years. The younger generation won't really get why those of a certain vintage harbour such rancour towards them.

Have you lost your senses Nuddy! Leeds rivalry is definitely more than Ipswich and Reading. They are teams that mean nothing to us and no doubt vice versa. But Leeds are even more arrogant than Wednesday fans, although to be fair to Leeds they have actually won stuff to be arrogant about! Its not just football with Leeds either. They see Leeds as the capital of the North and Sheffield is a small town that lives in Leeds shadows.

Back to football and I wouldn't mind Leeds getting promoted if we did, solely because its good for Yorkshire and it would be a derby game but I still will never like Leeds. Then there's the violence that you frequently get with Leeds fans, as mentioned at Bournemouth. I recall them ripping out seats from the BL upper when we beat them in the League Cup in 2003.

West Ham agreed. But they're a London club, Leeds will (sadly) always be just up the road. Most United and Wednesday fans don't have the daily interaction with Leeds fans that we do with our dear neighbours but that doesn't mean there isn't a rivalry, even though its not as strong as the Sheffield derby. That's how I see it anyway.

When Reg Brealey mooted plans for The Bramall Centre it was, naturally, turned down by SCC on the highly-spurious grounds that one or two local residents had complained ('Oh, I never saw that football ground when I bought my house.') I wrote a highly-critical letter to The Star and, amazingly, it was published. Back then, SCC took out pages of adverts in The Star for endless non-jobs so The Star didn't want to be critical of them.

Reg saw my letter, invited me for a meet and showed me the plans for The Bramall Centre, which involved turning the pitch round 180 degrees, running track round the outside and all-seater, covered seating areas. Naturally, SCC weren't having any of that, similar to their refusal to widen Bramall Lane to dual-carriageway status a la Penistone Road. They built the pathetic Don Valley instead.

Bit of a visionary, was Reg. He told me at our meeting 'I didn't realise what I was up against with Sheffield City Council...'

Certainly would have got my vote, on the condition the road split leaving the holy ground containing The Cricks and The Railway on an island, just like that farm on the M62.

I'd disagree. The cup games we had against them in the early 00s and the promotion battle in '06 breathed life into the rivalry for a lot of younger Blades. For me Leeds are the most obnoxious set of supporters in the country.

I've nothing really against the city itself, its quite a nice place, but their fans are the absolute dirt, proper scumbags.

Re them returning to the Prem - they had their fun in the Champions League paying daft wages well beyond their means and swindling their creditors. The subsequent 15 years or so they've had out of the top flight is a small price to pay. They should have gone bust.

Twice The Cricketers and The Railway have been closed down - and the various used-car lots been given CPOs - before the widening plans were quietly dropped.

I dont buy that.

I wasnt alive when Hitler was around, but I still know that he was a massive bastard.

I've even heard that some chap called Julius Caesar ruled over an empire more massive than Chansiri's. I was a way off being a glint in my daddy's eye at that point.

Dirty cheating bastard fucking leeds.

They invented shithousery. It was their idea.
