Least our lads should be fine for Saturday. Though would love to see Freeman come on and get a chance. He deserves it. A bit of a unsung hero so far this season

It was always fairly unlikely he’d get on, and even less likely when he had Gunter alongside him on the bench. Now he’s properly on the radar I’m sure his chance will come – hopefully when I’m in the crowd for the Denmark match in Cardiff next month...

Back to the football. Ireland were “useless” in my Irish F-inL’s opinion and I agree. It was like watching a Warnock/Blackwell anti- football team, complete with multiple reducers on Brooks.

Pretty accurate comment from the Guardian's reporter:
"There was little trace of sharpness from either side during a first half when the ball drifted to and fro like a plastic bag in a fickle breeze."

The entire game could be encapsulated in the passage of play which saw the Welsh defender lose the ball on the edge of his own area to the Irish midfielder...who was clean through and hit a shot which would have been laughed at in Forum Footy. Even the free-kick which won the game came after a ridiculous tackle. I was working while it was on in the background: the level of play kept my attention firmly on the presentation I was creating.

It was a poor game on the whole – two poor teams till the opening goal, which for me the keeper was to blame for misjudging Wilson’s shot. Wales probably should have added to that with several breaks, and didn’t. The Irish never really troubled Hennessey at all.

Brooks had an odd game. He was asked to step up a bit in Bale’s absence, and did in the sense that he was the focal point for most of the attacks along with Wilson. His run and pass to Roberts for the ridiculous tackle you mention was a good piece of skill. But far too often he kept hold of the ball too long, or passed to nobody. There was one instance in particular where he was caught in possession near the halfway line following a Wales corner, which led to an Irish break that really should have punished the error. Some naive stuff at times.

Unfortunately for Freeman, Connor Roberts had a very good game. I can see him being Giggs’s first choice on the right here-on in.

The biggest cheers in the first half was when paper aeroplanes were thrown from schoolkids from the top tier and landed on the pitch.

Moved a lot of off topic arguing/abuse out of this thread, those involved, please refrain as I don't wish to waste valuable time babysitting.

jqzblade posted about Blades players and their national teams, why derail that?
