Loyalty points

Hi just a quick question may have been posted somewhere before. I have a season ticket and bought my son 1 he is only 1 and won't be coming atm does this to secure a seat with me and my dad also to get loyalty points. Obviously he got no where near the loyalty point as me but to say if i kept buying tickets in his name even tho hes got a season ticket will he still get the loyalty point on his account any help would be great

Presume you're talking about getting away tickets in his name ? Given he's only starting this season, there is next to no chance, I suspect they'll be snapped up long before they get anywhere near his 'eligibility' total. Even if you are No.1 in the loyalty points table, you have to wait for his 'eligibility' to come round before you could get one in his name.

Fuck them all. I've got my 46k points following (blindly) my team through the dark times. 6 years in League 1 going to places like Bury and Rochdale year on year.

I am surprised they didn't have a higher points requirement to start with and make it a combination of membership or ST to make it fairer on the more commited fans.

It's hard, they are damned what ever they do.

I have 21000 points and accept I won't get to many away games without sitting in the wrong end.

I’m well over 40k plus with loyalty points, season tickets every year, loads of away games, manned it out through the tough times,

To make it membership only, I reckon the club must know they’ve sold more memberships than there is ticket available, and therefore guaranteed everyone who has bought a membership a ticket for the pigs.

The 500 points is fair I say. Purely to try and prevent away fans getting tickets in the home section.

It use to be a 3 game package, in essence the 500 points is in a similar vain. I honestly don't see the issue. You would only had to have gone to 3 or 4 games in the last god knows how many years to be on 500pts.

They could buy tickets to other home games now, or away games when possible (if before pig game) and still get points added so qualify.

Ah, the old loyalty points debate

Never an easy way, the rich will get richer and the poorer have little chance to get on the ladder, tis the way of things unfortunately. It works fine for most games, it's just the 'big' away games and smaller allocations when it's a bit limiting for all but the top earners. Without a reboot/reset it's not going to be any different for the foreseeable, let's hope we don't go up

I have 250 points because although I usually go to 5-6 games per season I don't do it through my official account. A mate buys em and I give him the money.

I imagine there are lots of people in my [frustrating] position. I was a season ticket holder aged 5-21, then moved down south so didn't see the value in buying a "membership" so my loyalty points are redundant, which means I have to wait til 18th October when they go on 'general sale' to fans with 500+ points. As annoying as it is that I can't use my points without a membership, I'm very glad that at least when I buy them on the 18th, I won't be up against fans like mattbianco1 's mate!

Dammed if you do dammed if you don't. It will be interesting to see what's put forward in the future. As a reset is unfair, yet the away support is going to get older and older. It's also a self fulfilling prophecy in that those with the most points, can get access to the most games, thus gaining more points.
Going to be interesting for us too, as me and the oldest have plenty of points, but the youngest has only just turned 1, so currently has zero.

My only issue is that in the past I had a ticket bought for me by a family member as it was convenient at the time. Since it has been changed to you need your own account, I have not been able to get to many games because of work, it turns out the only games I can get to are the games where you need x amount of loyalty points, which sucks. Might be time just to buy tickets to every game that I can't attend just to rack up the loyalty points anyway....

I don’t know if it would work but they could award more loyalty points for the more far to reach games. Therefore if you want to get up the ladder you’ve got to put the graft in. It’s still take a while to get to where the top earners are, but Derby and Bristol we’re both 100 points. Significant difference in terms of travel time and cost. But more likely tickets for Bristol would go on general sale. I think you even get 50 points for the beambacks ! The red button games, perhaps these should result in more loyalty points as well.

I don’t begrudge anyone getting a ticket for Hillsborough (or key games - Northampton for e.g) who has traveled hundreds of miles over the year watching the Blades, I haven’t, so I’ll not get a ticket and that’s fine.

How long ago was you a season ticket holder? If it is post 2007 then you will have a membership number that is/was associated to your season tickets, meaning you will have a lot more than 500 points. You get 2.5k for every season ticket.

If it was before 2007 when you last had one then yeah, you're right.

The family thing is a problem no doubt and there could be a way of linking family members but again, that would be deemed unfair if a younger member of a family gets a ticket ahead of someone else towards the top of the tree.

My main argument when the scheme 1st came out, and there's no real way round it, is that 'loyalty' only started at that point. I, like thousands of others, did my time back in the 70s, 80s, 90s and may well have been to more games than some in the top 10% of the current system but that counts for nothing. Shame we can't play an 'oldie' trump card once a season or maybe they could set aside a small percentage for the over 50s

Well that’s what I thought but definitely 100 for Bristol and Derby. I’m sure I only got 150 for going to Cardiff last season on a Tuesday. I don’t know, I just think the points could be looked at to give people a chance to break through ! Not going to be an issue for me for a few years yet anyway.

We use to do the same 1 lad went down for 4 or 5 tickets. whoever is buying just needs to give the name and partial address of the others and they'll add the ticket under that person, therefore getting points.

You got me there ! I guess the system is set up to give priority during high demand, but demand at home games doesn’t exceed supply yet.

Perhaps a standard 50 points + 1 point per mile travelled

I think I am in the few that has quite a number of loyalty points but also want a revamp of the system.

I think a different system for kids and teens to that of 18+

Under 10s should get higher points to start with - almost like a "manufacturer contribution" when buying a car. Otherwise, Mum/Dads will always struggle to take their Boys/Girls to matches away. They could have up to 3 'linked' adults and can only purchase away tickets if one of those linked adults are going to the game with them.. This could enable kids to build up enough points ready for when they turn 16 and can go alone.

Maybe u/10s get triple the loyalty points of an adult and 16-18 get double? But they also get a bit of a head start with like 10k loyalty points - this would mean that a trip to Hillsborough, adults get 50pts, u/10s 150pts, young adults 100pts

The Bristol game should have accrued more loyalty points than the Derby game. Factors such as distance, mid week games and for allocations unlikely to sell out, should have more loyalty points attached.
I think that although there are problems with the current set up, it works pretty well. It's impossible that a scheme can please everybody and which ever way you do it, there are always going to be winners and losers.

I've got 15,000+ points but if you're not a ST holder, you need to buy one of these "memberships" to actually use them. It means when I go to away games, I have to wait til they go on general sale. As I live down south, I usually go to Brentford, QPR, Millwall etc so can usually get one. My point was although people might whinge about not being able to get a ticket for the derby unless they have 500+ points, at least it's one saving grace for me that I don't have to compete against the people with less than 500 points too when they go on sale to people with 500+ points.

I suppose only getting to 3 games a season doesn't warrant the membership renewal. Do you make it to any home games? If you get to 5 games, you get a 6th game free as part of the membership. If you get to that sort of number of games, it's worth getting just for your loyalty points. If not, then you're probably best off as you are.
