Me again :D

Just released a new pod with Blades Analytics, getting into some serious detail on us being top of the league, how we've got there and whether we'll stay: includes the fact this is no fluke (02:14) and the impact of having Kieron Freeman back (08:40)

Then we give out our quarter-season awards including Best Moment (21:40), Player of the Season (27:00), Best Signing (34:30) and plenty more.

Cheers as always for listening - really enjoyed this one, who wouldn't enjoy spending an hour talking about the Blades as the best team in the Championship?

decent player Baldock . very consistent . two words though. 'end product'.. ;)
The key is end product Freeman producers
Baldock is very wasteful.Knill and Co will be working to try and iron out a few flaws within his game,he won't be the only one most of the shadow squad will be working on there weaknesses if they want to push into the team, most of those have room for improvement ( Adkins phrase ) the drive to win a 1st team shirt should really be there focus, any player not driven to win a shirt won't last long with Wilder as he says!
Your either in 100%,or your out no sentiment.

Noticed that Baldock’s crosses seem to be floated in, the opposition. defence seem to always head them clear or the keeper catches it.
This type of cross is fine if we had a big physical striker who is good at heading, and outmuscling the opposition.eg a Gary Madine type.

Where as Freeman’s crosses are almost like shots, he blasts them hard and low to the edge of the 6 yard box.
This type of cross is better for the goal poacher types where their movement finds a yard of space, eg a Billy Sharp type.

Intelligent chat backed up with some interesting stats.

Well done again lads.

Regarding the stats relating to points gained compared with equivalent fixture last season.

Against the three promoted and three relegated teams last season we only dropped three points.

We’ve lost three already this season (against Swansea), so will struggle to match last season there.

Just another point to consider...

Only dropped 3 points?

We lost twice to Fulham.
We lost away at wolves
And we lost at Cardiff and drew at the lake.

14 points dropped....

Think maybe he means the teams promoted from L1 (Bolton, Millwall) and the teams relegated from the Prem (Sunderland, Hull, Middlesborough). Saying that we lost games to Bolton, Millwall, Hull, and Middlesborough, so maybe not!

Yes it was meant to be something like that.
I thought I had read it somewhere (maybe on here?) but it’s clearly a load of crap stat, so forget I ever mentioned it.

Beans great to hear Blades Analytics confirming what i've been saying for a while that Freeman provides the balance down the right.

I also think that because now lots of the play comes down the right, it frees up Stevens to get forward, undoubtedly gives him more time on the ball when he is there too which will help his deliveries if they're not rushed.

Another fascinating pod, cheers for putting together. I was pleased to be on the same lines as you both with player (Norwood) and signing (Egan) of the season so far. Arguably the signing of the season was renewing Chris Wilder's contract. After reading Danny Hall's book I never really knew how close he was to leaving but it certainly seemed like he really could have gone.

Nice podcast! I have a question that maybe Blades Analytics could help out on.

This season we've scored a lot more goals from set pieces, but I didn't actually think our corners and free-living kicks were that bad at all last season. We had a load of inventive moves straight from the training ground (I remember a big article that was written by a neutral about the topic) and I felt we actually got away a lot of efforts on goal, even if we didn't score many. My question is: how do our expected goals from set-pieces last season compare to this?
