That is a bizarre thread. I’m pretty sure there historical natural position is with those teams they plant in the category of temporarily overachieving.
“When will we be one of those clubs overachieving” To most clubs you already are. To chuck us in there too is odd, I know we were out of the league a while but championship football has always been our bread and butter.

We have fantastic record in the 2nd tier.

We’ve spent a total of 43 seasons at Championship level
and finished in the top 10 for 31 seasons and finished in the bottom 14 for only 12 seasons.

So historically we are involved in a promotion battle 75% of every season we’ve spent in the 2nd tier.
Probably explains why we automatically expect to be up there competing near the top of the table

Whereas Bristol City have spent 50 seasons at Championship level
But only finished in the top 10 on 17 occasions, their natural order is bottom half.

Can only imagine the Bristol City fan is really young because his outlook is bizarre to say the least.

It's a Yorkshire derby, but not a local derby. Not everywhere in Yorkshire is local. Yorkshire's quite big. However, I'm not sure which club(s) they see as their natural rivals. York City?

Scunthorpe Utd but they’ve not played each other very much for several seasons. My dad went to a Hull v Scunny derby, didn’t rate it!

I think what people forget that anyone who is 25 or younger will have spent their entire adult life seeing us as a failed Championship side and League One side, who've just come up and are doing well with League One players. They are also more likely to be the age group on social media. (This forum is probably a bit of an exception). We need to accept that a bit more than we do. Our place at the top table has to be re-earnt.

I forgot about Scunthorpe. Not good, as I once had a girlfriend from there and her family were big fans. I've never been, but remember driving past and thinking their new ground looked like a cow shed.

“NA is the kind of bloke who’d call relegation a positive” :p:p

They’ve got Mr Adkins sussed out

I thought it would be penalty this and that lucky Utd etc but quite a few fair comments

As long as they finish below us I don’t particularly dis-like ‘Ull

I’d like to see all Yorkshire teams in top flight as long as we finish above them, except the South Barnsley, i’d Like to never ever see or hear anything about those horrible twats
My son has been living in Hull for a few years and I've actually grown to quite like the place and the people.

It's a place of choice for us when we fancy a weekend away these days.

P.S you forgot to add Leeds to South Barnsley, otherwise a very good post :)

“We are now bottom of the league and Sheffield United are top. Shows how poor this league is. Very worrying times though….”

Don’t understand this post.

Is he saying it’s a poor league because we’re top?

If so how does them being bottom fit into the equation?

Puzzled.com.

In a slight defence of this comment, he may mean that we're top while they're bottom, yet yesterday there wasn't much between the teams. So it could be that he means that no team is much better than any other.

Or perhaps he's just talking bollocks.

No, I don't think he meant that. It was the one comment that jumped out at me as well. He seems to believe that the rightful positions of the two clubs should be the opposite way round. He should get an "I'm deluded" badge for his efforts.

I would say every village has it's idiot, but recently it seems they have all relocated to S6

It's certainly possible he meant it that way, yes.

Actually, to me he was feeling really down about his club. He was saying United are top, and he thought we weren’t that good so the league must be pretty shit. So if the league was really shit, and they were now bottom of it, then they were total shit.

Came for draw, left with a defeat. I think I know who got the tactics right there

We won’t win every game 3 or 4 nil. A close result and a clean sheet to go top would be taken by every other team in this division

I disagree there. I don't think they necessarily did come for a draw. There's a reason why Henderson was man of the match, and that's because he kept us in it!

He is deluded, but my son travelled with a family of 'Ull fans yesterday, as the lad is a mate of his. He said they all thought Adkins was a tit and playing everyone to keep everyone happy (what Coutts said about him). The 'Ull family also thought that they needed to move from the Kcom to a ground of around 10000 to 15000 capacity, as they realise that they are not inherently a big club, and believed the atmosphere would return. They seem to have got a better handle on it than the Johnny come lately "fans" who think that 'Ull is a premier league club.

Ok if they came for a win then they failed even more miserably

They just don’t get the “unseen” work that nigel does...

The comment about relegation as a positive though is spot on, you could see him now, all teeth and superlatives about going again, and endeavour... I’m shocked they appointed him, wasn’t anybody watching the complete fuck up he masterminded here? (Except us)
