Warnock was operating under a different regime. No fucking prince.I presume you rate Warnock above Wilder then?

No but they aren't better than Sharp or McGoldrick. Clarke potentially is abetter bet than the others but isn't doing it at the moment.Webber, Shipperley and Akinbiyi were shit then?
The warnock team just had a habit of winning, even when we were poor, we near always found a way to win.
However the football that wilder plays is miles better and also you’d have to say the division is much harder these days
How folk can say a side that included Monty would beat this team with a straight face is unbelievable.

For all his technical limitations as a footballer, I’ve seen him nullify better midfielders than Coutts & Norwood. For all his technical limitations, he had the a heart, balls & legs of a lion and it’s no coincidence that our fall through the leagues coincided with him leaving.![]()
Rather than saying he’s talking rubbish, why not appreciate the time he’s taken to state an opinion, even though it differs to yours. I happen to agree with him. After all there’s no way it can be proven one way or the other. You're talking rubbish.
Come back when this team has achieved automatic promotion to the Premier League and then we'll talk.

I did appreciate it.
It was well written and concise.
Still twaddle though.
Shipperley has more Premier League appearances and goals than all of our current strikers combined.
He was also our top scorer in 2005-06.
Give me Jagielka, Morgan and the wealth of striking options from Warnock's side
We never have a better consistent team in my years of watching the Blades (65). The 70/71 had some great games but this side are better in my opinion.Warnock's premier league flirtation ?
Bassets team ?
Or does it go back even further ?
I've got to concur with Willie. I've seen better teams, but these lads have given me the greatest pleasure. They are a joy to watch. We never have a better consistent team in my years of watching the Blades (65). The 70/71 had some great games but this side are better in my opinion.
I'm just going to throw it in there for the sake of debate, what about the 2008-09 team? They only finished one place behind the Warnock promotion team, and higher than any of Wilder, Kendall or Spackman's teams. All with a far inferior manager.
Kenny
Walker - Morgan - Kilgallon - Naughton
Ward/Cotterill - Speed - Howard - Quinn
Beattie - Sharp/Webber

It might be just the way you're sat, but i like the cut of your jib, young man.In recent years, that was indeed a very good side, as was the later version that got promoted. Spackman's side of of early 97/98 was a good 'un, as was Kendall's of 96/97.
Would our current team have beaten Hull at Boothferry Park in 1988? I try to imagine Duffy carrying the ball past defenders whilst watching this video:.

He was utterly fucking useless. He nullified nobody. Half-decent players ran rings round him and left him chasing shadows.
According to Wikipedia
In 08-09 Walker was on loan at Northampton.
Walker and Naughton only ever played together for United on TWO occasions.

For consistency over a long period the 2 semi finals/Wolves debacle team is still above this one for me.
Ask again in May![]()
This team plays far and away the best football since the John Harris days. A joy to watch. Proper football played the right way. That rules out Bassett and Warnock for me.
The best football is the one that wins the most football matches. You don't get any points for possession or completed passes.
Wilder still has a long way to go before he's even in the same league as Bassett and Warnock.
