Just for you 1973Blade !

Just five games in but it's beginning to look good. Attendance at Bolton by the way was 14,848, 1,978 of which will be delighted with what they've seen. Next up, Villa! Also, tho' the pigs scraped a narrow win against 10-man Ipswich, they're still two points behind us despite having just had two of the easier home games in four days. Since our first game back in the Championship (August 5th, 2017), they've never had more points than us. Mind the gap!

Fulham finished 3rd not 6th.

I'm sorry. I don't understand. Games 4 to 5 in 17/18 it appears we jumped 6 points. Am I being thick? (Not unusual.....)

No, a minor technical glitch...At game four last season (Barnsley at home) we had a run of four straight wins. Our early form in 17/18 will be hard to match this season. However, game 17 (Burton away) saw Coutt's injury and - for the rest of the season - our longest winning 'run' was just 2 games.

Fulham finished 3rd not 6th.

...and another...

The other way of looking at this is that from the same games last season (substituting Swansea for Wolves) we only got 6 points - wins at Bolton and against Wolves. We lost the other three. This time round we have 9...

I've ust had to search on Grafikhaus to find this! It was updated yesterday but isn't appearing in the recent posts list.
It's a thing of beauty at this time so probs more users should see it...
Mods - is it a sorting function glitch.?
;)

So as a comparison -

Swansea instead of Wolves (h) - minus 3pts change
Middlesborough (a) - no difference 0 pts change
QPR (a) plus 3pts change
Norwich (h) plus 3 pts change
Bolton (a) 0 pts change
Aston Villa (h) plus 3 pts change

Seems to me we're 6 points better off than last season :)

Indeed, and that's taking the pessimistic approach of counting the win against wolves, if you average out the points against the promoted teams then it's 1.33 PPG last year (1w, 1d, 1l) so you could argue that we are actually 7.67 points better off...

Swansea is 0/3 and the points we got from last season's promoted teams was 4 points out of possible 18

We move on...:)

It's how this division works, a narrow defeat but now we've got two home games to get above where we were last season. Still fifth in the division, ahead of the pigs and at least we're not celebrating getting a point (did the Wednesday players throw their shirts into the crowd? To listen to the pigs home draw, it's utter relief from those morons. Dead loss Jos running onto the field etc.) We're better than that. Their run of easy fixtures is over.

All doom and gloom on here today...

upload_2018-9-20_11-57-37.png

Be 'there or thereabouts' at Game 17 (Coutts injury - 36 points) and we'll be OK. Unless people expected more than 'OK'?

We're in sixth spot after eight games - exactly the same as last season.

Never mind projecting 82 pts, we're almost a third of the way to safety.

Let's take it one goal at a time.

thats the 4th game today that weve won , that in the corresponding fixture last season that we lost
In total there will be 34 games this season that are directly comparable to the games we played last season (46 -12 against new teams to the league)

Of the 11 games played so far 9 are directly comparable. Last season our results in the 9 fixtures were
2017/18 = W2 D1 L6

Record this year against those same teams is
2018/19 = W6 D1 L2

I'm never sure if these stats mean anything really but on the face of it that looks like significant progress.

On top for the first time since Oct. 27th 2017. Remind me, when were Wednesday last on top of the Championship?

July 1986

Nope. The Championship (currently The EFL Championship) was formed in 2004-05. Before that, it had been The First Division since 1993 when The Premier League was formed.

In the 1985-86 season, the pigs finished fifth in the First (top) Division. :)

The season also doesn’t continue to July either :D

I knew you couldn’t resist statting random guess

So I've just wasted over five hours of my Sunday checking stats? :D

In the interests of fairness, we've now both played 12 games and The Gap is *only* six points.

In the interests of super-fairness, we've played nobody yet while Wednesday have beaten the likes of Reading, Ipswich and Millwall.
