Adebayor apparently stamped on Van Persie in the Man City-Arsenal match today. Which got me thinking...

Has there ever been a case where two players that were team-mates at Bramall Lane have had an altercation in a match after one (or both) of them have moved on? I'm thinking of something with Vinny Jones when he was at Chelsea, but can't really recall what happened, and other than that nothing is coming to mind.

Just watched his celebration - ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the arsenal fans. What an absolute idiot. Just another rich, clueless footballer.

I'm yet to see it, but whilst I do agree with your sentiments, I'm actually warming to the guy! :)

He amuses me, and whilst I'd have been pretty pissed off if Hulsey had done the same to us today, I'm finding the celebration slightly amusing too (perhaps merely because it was against the Arse).

If he did intentially stamp, it is truely out of order and he should be banned. I do find the recent stances taken by Arsenal against "unfair play" very hypocritical though.

Perhaps i'm just having an anti-Arsenal month :) That said, I felt sorry for them in the penalty decision with Man U.

Looked like a stamp for the quick thing they did on SSN, he looked down at him and then stamped.

Could be a ban from video replays?

Fooking idiot.

Seems to me to be a bit of a prat who thinks he's Pele or something. Obviously a very bitter person for his last few years at Arsenal.

I think I'm warming to Arsenal, always liked Wenger and like them being a constant thorn in Man Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool's side, playing better football despite the fact they spend much less. Although Eduardo did dive, he's not the only player to dive in the history of the Champions League. What I don't get is if they're going to ban him for two games does this give referees the right to give divers a straight red? Surely it does? If not it's just a PR stunt.

Brings back vile vomit inducing memories of Terry the gippo curran doing the very same at the Lane 1980, right in front of the Kop after his lucky miscued 20 yarder at the BL end brought the scum level. I lost a pocket full of change trying to dent his smug chuffin` grin. Bastard!.

Not to mention St Brian Of Deane doing the same along the John Street side in January 1994.

Howard seemed very annoyed with our 'long ball' tactics in The Sun today, so could be interesting when Reading come...If we actually notice him on the pitch.

He won't be in the team by then; they'll have realised he's nowt special by then.

Will have to hunt down that story, surprised the player himself has jumped on the myth that he just saw the ball sail over his head.

Having said that, he might improve a bit now he's further away from his favourite watering hole.

Easy...just look out for the sun-tanned fat bloke waving his arms about as he slowly makes his way round the centre circle.:hello:

I remember Shaun Derry making an awful tackle on one of our players in front of the John St. shortly after he left us (playing for Portsmouth?), think he was sent off...nasty piece of work.

was it on ndlovu? i remember that. derry is a nasty twat. there would be no tears shed by me if he copped a serious injury as he's tried to do it to plenty of others

I remember derry's too, awful challenge, and am i making this up or did morgan get sent off for stamping on asaba after asaba had left? A quick check of soccerbase reveals they were only at united together for about 2 weeks though.

Aye he did, horrible stamp. I'd have been happy for Morgan never to play for us again after that. He's won me round proper now.

The 3 incidents mentioned in this thread are as follows:

15/1/92: Chelsea (a) in the FA Cup 5th round - Vinnie Jones steamed in to Dane Whitehouse straight from the kick off and got booked. There was later a confrontation between Jones and Bradshaw.

9/2/02 Portsmouth (h) Derry got sent off in injury time after trying to cut Ndlovu in half. This being after Paul Furlong had got a winner for United with a last minute pen which, I think, Derry gave away.

19/11/05: Millwall (h) Morgan stamped on Asaba in the last min and got sent off.

I seem to remember the mid 90's where Alan Kelly and Roger Nilsen used to have a pop at each other regularly, especially when one blamed the other for a goal being conceded
