On 20th May 2017, Millwall beat Bradford City 1-0 in the Division One play-off final at Wembley so joined the Blades and Bolton in gaining promotion to The Championship. This despite The Lions winning 27 points less than United’s 100.

This Saturday (29th Sept.), we meet at The Den, the 51st League meeting between the clubs. Last season, we lost at Millwall 1-3 (Brooks) and drew at Bramall Lane on the 14th April 1-1 (Clarke).

We are in fourth position…


…while Millwall are third from bottom with just one win from the first nine games of this season. A 2-0 defeat at West Brom last Saturday continued their dismal form. Last night (Tuesday 25th) Millwall lost 1-3 at home to Fulham and went out of the EFL at the third round stage.

Steve Morison re-joined Millwall after spells at Leeds and Norwich. An ever-present this term, Morison is Millwall’s all-time third-highest scorer with 91 goals. Only Teddy Sheringham (111) and current Millwall Manager Neil Harris (138) are in front.

Sheffield-born and former United Academy player Lee Gregory has been with The Lions since June 2014.

Ryan Leonard – currently on loan from the Blades is ineligible and will not feature this Saturday.

I really like Steve Morison, cracking player. Seems that little bit smarter than most other players.

We never seem to do to well against them. Can't stand Millwall its time we did them at their Lego stadium. It'll be tough though, always a tough game v them. Gregory likely to be the danger man, Morison hardly scores but does well holding the ball up.

Gregory playing a full game yesterday might be a bonus as did several other first teamers.

That’s outrageous if true. How’ve we let that happen? Guaranteed to have an absolute blinder.

My first time at Millwall, four of us getting into London around 10:30. Really looking forward to it. Being honest I’m not expecting a win despite their form, purely down to our record there. Would love to be proved wrong!

I imagine that as for all intents and purposes this was a permanent deal (albeit one that only gets confirmed as such when the window reopens) it’s being treated as such with regards this. Certainly if we were pushing Millwall to commit to making it a permanent deal rather than a loan with the purchase to be left unagreed, they’d have been fully in their right to negotiate that he could play. I’d expect us to do the same had we been the buyer in that situation.

During the period of any Temporary Loan Transfer, a Player shall not play against his Transferor Club without the prior written permission of the Transferor Club (which, if given, must be indicated on the appropriate Temporary Loan Transfer form).
