Latest interview with Hendo shows yet again what a class act he is. Clear, focused, ambitious, realistic and passionate.

Plan A - Become England’s number 1, and get there by being Man U number 1.

Plan B - Become a Blades legend and enjoy playing for (and along with) Blades fans.

Current Plan - work your bollocks off on and off the field for Plan B because it is the best chance of achieving Plan A as well as Plan B.

He’s a throwback footballer who mainly just wants to play at the highest level he can, and knows that the fame and fortune will follow, but if you chase them first ironically you’re less likely to achieve them.

Magic Hendo, I hope your Man U route to Plan A is narrowly thwarted, but you get launched to England number 1 from the best platform in the world - our platform.

I'm loving life here. The club is excellent, the manager is outstanding and the goalkeeping coach (Darren Ward) is brilliant." "The fans here are something else," Henderson added. "If we do achieve something, and I see no reason why we shouldn't be successful, then they're going to be a huge part of that."

Impossible not to like the kid, not least for his skills in goal but also for his media presence. Not afraid to speak his mind and I can imagine is already a nig voice in the dressing room.

A proper modern footballer. Excellent with his feet and hands. Ambitious but understandung the work required. Using all the available media to connect with fans of all ages.

Attitude is spot on for a young player.

Quite scathing of his peers who swan around in Bentleys but are happy playing under 23 football as long as it’s with a top club. He just wants to play proper competitive football.
I would love him to stay but if he doesn’t I hope his work ethic gets him to the top.

He’s come through the exact same system as a certain James Wilson yet is the absolute polar opposite; hard-working, great character and a brilliant, positive attitude.

Understandably Hendo still wants to make it at Man U, but unlike Wilson, he’s not arrogant/deluded/stupid enough to assume he’s already made it there. So instead of coming here, barely looking interested, waffling about playing for Man U to the press on day one and never actually producing anything on the pitch or in training, Hendo is actively immersing himself in the Blades, soaking it all in and- crucially- ENJOYING the experience.

Which is why Hendo will play at the top (hopefully with us), and Wilson will get binned by Man U in the summer and tumble down the leagues.

There is an ever so slightly cocky edge to him. He knows he’s good and backs everything up on the pitch.

Hes always showing for the ball and is a louder presence at the back than Blackman. He’s got a mistake in him, but probably with the ball at his feet.

He’s the player you want in your side for the next 10-15 years

I sincerely hope Man U spend big on a keeper in jan or the summer

It’s bit like identical twins who have been brought up with the same values in life, same time spent with their parents, etc etc etc.

But one will turn out a top bloke who is focused on life and one will be a self centered tosser who expects everything on a plate.

Nothing stranger than folk.

Don’t you rate De Gea then?

Plan A and Plan B are in direct conflict with each other.

If all things go well with us, he'll have a big decision to make in the summer. If he continues to excel with us, he'll sadly be no closer to being Man Utd's No. 1. De Gea is 27 and now that RM have Courtois, will be Man Utd's No. 1 keeper for at least the next 5 years. Hendo will then be faced with either going back on loan, and delaying the decision for another 12 months or getting a transfer.

Hendo is 21 and can play until he is 33, so look at the next 12 years as four periods of 3 years. Forming, storming, norming & performing. He's currently in the formative part of his career, and it is vital he gets 1st team football, in relatively big games, in front to relativity big crowds, at a decent standard and decent level of pressure. By the time he is 24 be a premier league player, by the time he is 27 be a full england international & maintain that level of performance until 33. I would suggest that he isn't premier league standard yet, and the sensible thing would be for us to have him for either a 2nd season or take him on a permanent with the understanding that if we aren't in the prem by the start of the 20/21 season, he can go to someone who is. Look at Harry Maguire as an example.

This lad is brilliant, a complete breath of fresh air, and future captain material for sure.

In an interview the other week he talked about how he obviously wants to do it in the Premiership, and then surprised me by adding that it'd be great to do it with the Blades, on another loan spell if we went up. Wondered if it was a coded way of saying he'd sign for us if we went up.

“Were better than Preston” nice to hear the lads confidence, footballers don’t usually say things like that! Love it!!!

Yeah he's decent, but didn't look all that in the world cup. Who is their back up keeper? They need to have a couple so that Henderson looks for a move to the Blades :D
I think he’s called Romario and he’s pretty decent. I can’t see Hendo wanting to be a second choice nor can I see him displacing De Gea for at least six or seven years. So I think at some point he’ll have to move.

I stood up and applauded his save near the end.
Absolutely outstanding.
As good a save as you will see from point blank range with the time of it in the game as well.
Fine margins like that could be the difference between 6th and 7th!!

In 47 years of watching United I have seen that one-on-one scenario in the latter stages of the second half down the other end hundreds of times, and it always ends the same way - the net bulges and the opposition celebrate wildly with the away fans. Not on Wednesday though. I had to get my eyesight checked the next day to make sure I really had seen it go out for a corner.

Ey up Greenwich, do you recall about 10 years ago wandering the streets of Brighton after a few shandies (I think you’d been to a gig by the band you were following), you somehow spotted a 20cm diameter Blades poster through my third floor window, in the dark?!
You shouted up and I popped down for a rare chat with a fellow Blade! Made my night that did haha.
Cheers mate

Fucking hell, yes! We'd been to see Cardiacs at the Old Market in Hove and we were trying to find my mate Andy's car, parked "somewhere". My mates were supremely impressed that I could spot a Sheffield United badge seemingly in outer-space. Even more impressive was that when I shouted, "Oi! Nah den Blade!" you came to the window. The funniest thing was when you came down and Marina took photos of us in the street, one of your neighbours came out to ask us to keep the noise down.

Even more remarkable, although not to anybody who knows me, I was stone-cold sober that night - the sad truth is, I always behave like that. That particular gig was Cardiacs gig number 91 (on their last tour, November 2007) and this tale features in my 101 Cardiacs Gigs book!
