I've noticed over at S6 that they have started tweeting the pre match music for home fixtures. All the music is littered with local Sheffield (South Yorkshire) bands, promoting them to thousands on a match day.

There is some absolute shite which is played pre match at the lane, id prefer if we took a leaf out of their book and promoted local artists, giving them a platform to maybe build up a fan base.

I know a lot of people reading on here will go to local gigs with unknown band's, especially tramlines time. I don't see why we can't start doing this. Not everything will be of everyone's taste, but I think it would be a great idea.

Thoughts?

I don't like the "Maggie May's presents... Sheffield United" vibe but I'd rather not have a load of random potentially awful local music. At least what Sinclair plays is ''inoffensive" (mostly).

I remember one game we got a local band out at halftime, maybe before the game actually, they were called Tri-angle and were Sheffield's answer to the question "what would a version of Destiny's Child where no-one could sing or dance look like?"

I don't like Monday's
But I can't stand Wednesday
There's only one 1 team in this town
And it's here at Sheffield 2
Where all we won't to do
Is watch the Blades and see the owls go down.

Always remember a band playing this.

Agree with the Sheffield bands but in fairness the music has stopped when I arrive 2 mins late. And I go for a HT pint at 3.30 and don't cone back til 4.10.

I don’t care to be quite frank I am usually in the boozer at kick off with raul Rodders brownie as we usually ‘need’ that last pint.

It is of no consequence to us what shite they play.

For all I care they could play the back catalogue of Boyzone.

Took me two weeks after the Villa game to get Baby Shark out of my head, and now it's back. Thanks, lads.

We used to do this, half time music was sponsored by HMV, then HMV died in its high street form and it went back to Sinclair specials. Rose Garden and Charles and Eddie would do for me, nostalgic.

Gary Sinclair plays some absolute gash at times. Sure he only plays Club Foot begrudgingly before the game.

Think Wednesdays idea is decent tbf and certainly better than having to put up with Maggie Mays warm up DJ. It’s a shame that sheffields music scene is completely dead compared to the rest of the country

Went to Rochdale when we played them a few seasons back and it was all wall-wall Manchester bands; Stone Roses, Oasis, Buzzcocks, Inspiral Carpets, etc. Promoting Sheffield/South Yorkshire music scene I think should be mandatory. And before we get into “but Jarvis once said his Dad supports Wednesday” bollocks, I for one don’t care. Football is football and music is music. Bring it on Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Human League, Joe Cocker, Def Leppard, the Sherlocks, Reverend and the Makers, the full job lot.
Be proud of our musical heritage is pretty much my view.

Apparently the gaffer has a say in it. Especially the Leicester lot as we run out. Ie Kasabian. If it's good enough for him it's simpleh loveleh for me. Speaking of which check out the simpleh loveleh website but make sure you're gert or bert isn t hovering over your shoulder.

Rochdale play wall-to-wall Britpop. It's like being in the Leadmill on a Saturday night circa 1995. I think Bolton was similar if memory serves.

What is this pre match music you talk of
When I get in the ground I hear the last remnants of Annies Song

Meet at the love parade
We took pelham
United, by Judas Priest

Those three on repeat forever please, k thx
This.

Good memeries of playing Cardiff sometime in the 04/05 season and, upon 'Love Parade' being played pre-match, the away fans stripping down to the waist and twirling their shirts around their heads. It was fucking freezing as well.

Believe we went on to win that one 5-3 as well, in a match almost as bizarre as the behaviour of their fans..

They should play Rammstein and get Wilder and Knill a couple of jizz cannons to fire at the Kop. That'd wake them up haha

Rochdale played 'Complete Control' by the Clash at half time against Spurs in the cup last year. Rochdale are now my 2nd favourite team.
