Decent Blades players you'd completely forgotten about

Paul Rogers - last player I think to be signed from a non-league side to play for a Premier League side?

Mike Trusson - always Edwards, Morris, Kenworthy and Hatton that get all the plaudits from that 1982 side. Remember him scoring twice in the last 3 minutes in a game at Northampton.

Peter Anderson.

I seem to remember Trusson bagging a brace at York too CS when we won 4-3 in the fourth , good solid player who had a half decent goal return for a midfielder

I remember his debut (I think) against Wimbledon, he was superb, never gave John Fashanu a kick.
Thought we’d unearthed a gem, sadly didn’t stay around for very long :(
Remember that game just for his performance!

Absolutely. One of my favourites. I liked Kevin Arnott too. On his day he was superb. Sadly, too often it wasn’t his day.
Ozzie scoring a last minute winner towards the end of the season down at Southend, was working underneath mi car at time repairing the exaust when they went down to roots hall for the report, apparently picked the ball up just inside their half and did a mazy run through their midfield and defence and slotted home past the keeper, I screamed sat straight up and smashed top of mi head into exaust and screamed again...:D:D:D:D, think it was same season we went up, waitng on the tuesday night Burnley-Bolton game, Edwards header at notlob when he nodded in and knocked himself out.
Those priceless 3 pts at roots hall and edwards goal at notlob on the bank holiday monday even though we lost 3-1 and then waiting as said above on that tuesday game..load of blades went, I think it was covered on the radio at the time by either Hallam or RS.

I was there. It was a superb goal. Just as good was Glen Cockerill appearing from nowhere at the Blades’ end to put in a last-ditch block as they were about to equalise from close range in the last minute.

Arnott was also brilliant in a 2-1 win at Palace, where Frain and Beagrie gave a master class in wing play. I remember my sky-high level of optimism after that performance. I’m pretty sure the next game produced a dismal display and a defeat...

Tony Wagstaffe, elegant, silky skills. Big problem he was feather light and easily knocked off the ball. For years they were trying to bulk him up. If he'd had the same physique as his brother Barry he would have been a major player.

Saw a photo of him in the Morning Telegraph archives trying to eat a big plateful of food!

He bizarrely came to mind today as I passed a car on the M1 with the number plate "P R065ERS"!!!

Paul McGrath was immense. Remember we had some great centre backs in the Kendal and then Spackman era. Carl Tiler and David Holdsworth too.

I loved watching Gary Cahill play for United too.

Nah that was William/Bill/Billy Foulk/Foulke/Foulkes/Forks/Faulk/Faulks.

Ha ha, didn't realise S24SU was so big back in old Fatty's days. I always got really pissed off when people got Don's name wrong back in the day. It's not as if it's just a spelling mistake, it's like referring to Norwood as Northwood or something.

I came up to Sheffield for the Villa Cup match with the snowballs being thrown at Milosevicin 96. I stayed at what used to be the Swallow Hotel and was very excited to hear that the Villa team would be staying there, the manager then mentioned that a United player was staying there whilst looking for a house but didn't know who it was (obviously not a fan!). Turned out to be Don and I saw him one breakfast and asked him to sign an article in my football magazine which I'd just bought and spotted his photo. He signed it and we had a brief chat. It was only later that I read the article and realised that it was about his little misdemeanour involving a beer bottle label whilst at Liverpool! To this day I still hope he didn't realise what the article was...

Well I believe the forum has been on the go since about 2005 so the first ones may have been Ndlovu/Nlove/Ndlove or McCall/MacCall/Macall/McAlle.

Posters would also have had a field day in Don's days with Petr Katchouro (that's how it was spelt in the programme), however according to good ol' wiki, it should be Pyotr Kachura.

Weirdly, the game you mention, I watched that live on MOTD at someone's house actually on Shoreham Street right behind the kop. It was odd as there was a 2-3 second time delay between the cheering heard outside to the TV. Dwight Yorke's 'panenka' winner - cunt.

Aidy was bloody quick grabbed a late brace at Highfield Rd on a bloody freezing night.
Trained as a physio now by all accounts a top bloke

Littlejohn used to live next door to my Mum and Dad and can confirm, a lovely lad with a lovely family. Whereas his mate Nathan Blake........... rayt arrogant cunt.

I had the DVD/ Video that had the time Aidy smashed the crap out of Adrien Heath. Proper quick fire punching.
