I seem to remember Richard Lucas playing, and playing very well in that match, and doing a good job in a few others as well before vanishing without a trace. Is my memory playing tricks? Villa had a decent side at the time with Platt and Tony Daley outstanding.

I remember going to an away match at Villa in the late 80’s/ early 90’s.

It was a night game, poor match with Villa being the better team, doing all the attacking but we defended well restricting them to few chances. We hardly attacked but then right near the end Kevin Gage scores a 30 yarder into the top corner.

Can’t remeber him making. Comeback from his knee injury. He certainly played at Liverpool on 15th Dec 1990 and had an injury after Christmas.
In the Villa match, Ward scored a free kick taken from the John St side of the Kop, between the box and the byline.
