Think we’re blessed to have two of the best wing backs right backs in the league but who starts.
Personaly think baldock is better all round but Freeman just has a nack or popping up in the right place for a goal or assist

a Quick analysis of twitter and Facebook leads me to believe most women would vote for Baldock as he makes them wet,

I like both but Freeman. Better end product in the final third.

If Baldock can improve on that, it’s a difficult decision to make.

Freeman every day of the week. He adds so much more quality going forward and is a genuine goal threat too. His end product is much better and also seems to have a much better understanding of the role with Basham too. I don't think it's a surprise that Bash's offensive performances have been much improved of late (including 2 assists recently) since Freeman came back into the side.

I agree that Freeman is better in the system we play and the figures back that up. That being said, Baldock isn't a bad player at all who barely put a foot wrong last season. Good that we've got both in the squad.

Freeman as a wing back offers much more than Baldock.

If we were talking about full backs then opposite argument

That sounds about right. No point going on about Freeman's occasional goals if the defence is leaking like a sieve down his flank. He was dodgy at times in L1 and largely untested in the Champ so we'll see.

Freeman all day for me, especially & importantly when Coutts plays the link up play & understanding that these 2 have is crucial to our style & effectiveness.

Would be interested to see the stats of when these 2 have played together vs when not.

The stats will show that Baldock partnered Coutts in United's flying start to last season in the Championship before Coutts got injured. Baldock wasn't the only one whose form dropped off thereafter. The season before when Coutts partnered Freeman was in L1 and is not comparable.

Not quite the case re last season, in the 17 games up to & including Burton, Freeman started 8 games (5 wins & 3 defeats) Baldock started 7 games (5 wins & 2 defeats).

Neither played against Hull & Burton (2 wins).

Therefore pretty inconclusive I would summarise

Baldock right, Freeman left?

Or Freeman as a forward :D

Why not Freeman as an option up front. It's something I've thought we could try for a while, not that it would influence CW's thinking in any way what I think..
His finishing certainly appears to be up to scratch, but I've no idea how his pace stands up against that of Clarke & Sharp...... maybe someone out there who takes a bit more notice of such things than me can shed some light ?
It worked for them lot with Warhurst a few years ago, albeit a different kind of centre forward, and he looked more threatening to me than Hirst did.
If we didn't have Freeman on the books to compare with I think most of us would be pretty happy with Baldock at full/wing back.

George is one of my favourite players, but till the Swansea game I'd've said Freeman has to be in the team because he scores - even if it's sometimes jammy, assists, and wins the occasional penalty.

Then George popped up with a very good goal in the first game of the season. Then he gets injured and Freeman gets the place.

If Baldock has added more calmness in the box (didn't he receive the ball in a very good position early in the home derby, but fail to control it?) and finishing to his game then they could really push each other.

Freeman for now, but if he gets injured, or has a dip in form then it'll be interesting to see how Baldock performs.

I've thought about that one too. If we played a 4-4-2 Baldock at FB and Freeman at RM as Duffy's second set of legs.. Would certainly solidify us defensively.

Wasn't aware of that. But yes, as you say, inconclusive.

I’ll admit it wasn’t entirely tongue-in-cheek as the smiley suggested.;)

I believe Freeman played as a striker as a kid, and before the promotion season his dad had told him he should get forward more and score more goals. He did just that and hit double figures from wingback. I may be misremembering though.

Interesting thing of note that I can’t see mentioned anywhere is that Kieron Freeman is on standby for the Wales squad. He was part of all the youth level squads, but he’s yet to get an appearance at senior level.

Source for this is Wilder, who incidentally said in his interview today that he was “on standby for the Irish boys”. Think he’s a bit confused there, unless he’s got some Irish heritage I’m unaware of. One of the upgoing games is against Ireland in the new Nations League, which is where I assume the mixup with Wilder occurred. Chris Gunter only made his return from injury for Reading this week – had he been out still, Freeman would have presumably been called up. Nice to see he’s at least on the radar for the squad now.
