in our stride

That was one of the most comfortable games I've ever been to. At 2-0 there was always the 'they might get one back and have a go' but never really threatened. OK, they sat back and let us pass round them for the most part but we never stopped passing and moving and to see the likes of Bash and Billy still tearing around at 3-0 up shows the mentality and desire of this bunch again.

It's difficult to balance how good we were against how bad they were but that was Wilder's Blades back to their best yesterday :)

wilder and knill are beginning to get the quality of players together needed to challenge.
we certainly won't stand still with wilder .
He doesn't want to die wondering what if.

Next week will show us where abouts we are and I’m confident of us getting a result. If we can get a striker then we have a real chance of top 6.

They've still got the same 'characters' from last season, it will be interesting to see how they react as and when they get a couple of results go the wrong way.
I think ‘character’ is their main strength, from what I have seen of them.

The last ditch blocks they were putting in yesterday, combined with the skill they’ve got is very ominous. I don’t think their manager is the type to let them slack off.

They may burn out playing like that all season, similar to us last season , but I don’t imagine they’ll be bringing in the same ‘quality’ of players as we did in January.

The table is meaningless until 10 games have been played; in my humble opinion!

Agree, in a period of 2 or 3 matches luck and finding/ experimenting with tactics can play a big role.
That’s why good teams (apart from Man City) can lose 2 or 3 matches and poor teams can win 2 or 3 matches.

Over a short period I’d say performances are an indicator of future results.

And even though Bolton were 3rd in the league their performances to date have been consistently poor.
The evidence has been there in every match they’ve played to suggest Bolton should be concerned about relegation.

True but they've also got 2 or 3 mardy arses who could quite easily throw their toys out as soon as things go against them as they did last season. The manager doesn't look like the kind to suffer fools and won't be shy in teaching them a lesson and showing them who's boss. All their top players are performing at the moment but that won't always be the case so we'll see how they react after a loss or two.

amazing how these clubs are world beaters.. promotion candidates.. we hammer them and then they’re just shit.. relegation candidates .. sighs
A few posters on here , where saying once the pigs won , and we lost , they’d be above us after the Bolton game

Yeah, early days. Still don’t think it’s likely we’ll be anywhere near the top 2, but I’ll be happily proven wrong.

I just think we should set our sights on 6th so if we lose a few people don’t start with the negativity.

I completely understand your quote about 6th - but to think 6th is a defeat, but fully accept how difficult it will be in this division - the object has to be 1st or 2nd - just as unfashionable NW and Cardiff did last season and Huddersfield before them, even though they did eventually do it in the play offs.

Teams grow into a season as it progresses - we should now look to do that with the core team we have. Think it should be clear to most of our fans what he core team will be and who ought to be 1st team regulars. It's up to the management to let them develop now.

We need firepower up top and this week could be vital in finding the players that will fit in.

Well looks like we are finding a nice rythym , and going from a walk to a trot
Freeman pitching in with goals , Duffy and Fleck in tandem
Norwood , excellent investment , looking like Wilder has improved us from last season

The way we attacked from the off and dominated will frighten a few clubs
we are contenders now, on that display
onwards and upwards
Agreed. This stat reminds me of a similar one last season when we were on a roll.

Just shows you what happens when you get a player like Norwood in. Gives everyone a lift and gets Fleck and others playing well again.

Our midfield is looking really, really good at the moment.

Well said Blades Analytics. Won’t go down well in the Neolithic Bassett strongholds though...
Give it a rest.
You're the only one that cares.
The rest of us just want to see the Blades win, if it's because of glorious football (as at present) that's fabulous!
If we need to do things differently to get results - so be it.:)

The idea that great football and winning are entirely separate concepts prevails only in S2.

Yearning for hoof...

If we cannot get a tad in front of ourselves after a 3-0 away win and, arguably at this stage of the season such a brilliant display of football why not? We all know we aren't suddenly the real deal and automatic promotion is on the cards but ffs lets go over the top a bit, I think the enjoyment and confidence comes more from the performance than the result ,it gives you a good feeling for the future, lets enjoy the ride again.

From promotion, to 10th to 6th would be progression and a great achievement IMO and I’d be more than happy if we scraped in on the last day.

Expecting anything more is putting undue pressure on Wilder and the team, considering the funds we have to work with.

Jeez enjoying a good performance and staying grounded aren't mutually exclusive

We’re improving nicely & found a good player that fits our system well , let’s enjoy the wins but keep our feet firmly on the floor at the moment we’re not out of August & non of the 3 we’ve beaten will be anywhere near the the top half of the table . Probably the same ppl who have us down for auto promotion now 3 weeks ago were posting about Wilder & the teams demise.
I still think we still need some more depth to the squad as a few injuries or suspensions and we’d be a threadbare it teams of quality we could replace them with .
Villa will provide a good gauge of where we’re at at present , looking forward to Sat think it’ll be a cracking game

yep, point taken - progression is the key really - as long as CW thinks the progression we make is ok and continues to believe he has a future with us.

Lets say we make 8th - we don't need CW thinking - if only.....seem to think he had those thoughts with our lack of genuine improvements in the last JTW.

it would be really good if the squad we have with the possible additions we make in the next few days can make another attempt at top 6 and this time not fade away like last season.

Yeah the board really need to back him. And the fans as well.

indeed they do - but the alleged £5/6m that we put on the table for Waghorn shows there is still money available - just hope we use it wisely. Not convinced the package for Waghorn was the best use of the funds available.

We could be one (fortunate signing) forward away from making a genuine challenge on 6th and above. Clubs like Huddersfield and Cardiff have proved it can be done. We've gone out of the League cup and would quite happy to dip out of the FA Cup too to give us the best chance.

Bit of pace and a bit more goal threat, along with no serious injuries and a bit of luck and I think you’re right pal
