Tbh is he really better than those who have been picked?
Their all premier league players who are always going to be chose in front of championship players. As well as the Celtic players who are in the limelight every week

You are totally correct but in the recent past he's chosen players from the Hibs team (not including McGinn - now of Villa) that were uncapped and the SPL isn't as good a standard as the Championship - and that's according the the Sunderland manager who managed in the Scottish Championship last season and has played in the SPL.

McTominay choosing Scotland was a big blow for Fleck's Scotland hopes. Even if Fleck was to be called up by Scotland I couldn't see him getting on the pitch over Cairney, McDonald or McGinn - who has always been chosen for Scotland in recent years, even though playing in the SPL and not for Celtic or Rangers. McGinn going to Villa is another blow. I don't personally mind it because he gets a rest in the international break but I hope Fleck doesn't want to move so he has a greater chance of playing for Scotland - a move to the PL presumably would be the aim. He can't go after this week anyway and he seems settled with us.

Fleck shouldn't be in the squad because we all deep down know he isn't as good as barry bannon who despite being a football god hasn't made the squad either. Hahaha

I reckon if he'd be chosen over Flecky though based on previous squads chosen. Joke.

To be fair, you’re comparing two players of a similar age one has 27 caps the other uncapped, one has been established in the Championship for many years, the other is only starting his second season.

Although Scotland haven’t got a midfield full of world class talent, they are at a similar level as Fleck currently is. Fleck needs to play in the Premier League to get himself a cap in my opinion.

I don't agree with those of you who thinks it's good news for United.

Sure, there's less risk of fatigue or injury, but I think there's a bigger risk that Fleck wants to move on to improve his chances of selection, like Jamie Murphy.

He will want to try his luck in The Premier League next season whatever if the offer is there.

Agreed re Pl. However, it was when Hibs Dylan McGeough got chosen ahead of Fleck, with both uncapped, that I thought that Fleck will never get a cap.

That’s him sold off then.

£3m???

It doesn't help the Scottish that they keep appointing fuckwit managers.

Totally this. For me if he’s not been in a squad by the end of the season (subject to promotion :)) it’ll be the thing that makes his mind up when a prem team comes a sniffing....

Let’s put our selfishness to one side for a moment, now although McTominay might prove to be a good player, how can someone who barely plays competitive matches like him be picked for their national side over someone with Flecks’ attributes and already proven quality? It’s either pathetic from Scotland or they don’t have anybody watching him, or both.

Depends how he takes it. Seems like he's confident enough not to need their validation.

If he's in the dressing room going "I'm nae bothered, the Scottish FA are a bunch of cunts" then no bother.

Personally I've already made peace with the fact he'll be off at the end of this season unless we get promoted anyway, don't think this factors into it.

Pretty sure Fleck is not picked due to ther row with the national team earlier in his career. Nothing to do with footballing ability.

Not like he probably cares, they never win many.

Fleck will eventually make McLeish look a bit of a cunt when we’ve overhauled the seatsmashers to be at the top of the league. With our “wee man” getting 8/10 week in week out.

They must have some team to leave him out. If it reflects the quality of their squad they should have no excuse for not making the last 8 of the next two major tournaments.

Ridiculous yet completely expected. 'The North Remembers' would appear to be true.

As others have pointed out, midfield is probably Scotland's strongest area with McGinn at Villa being the only non-EPL or Celtic player in the middle of the park.

I was surprised Fleck wasnt included when McAurthur at Palace dropped out though. He is certainly good enough.

Stuart Armstrong, John McGinn, Tom Cairney (about as scottish as me), Kevin McDonald, Callum McGregor.

That's why Fleck's not getting picked. It's not because they hate United or anything.

It's when Bannan was getting picked ahead of him that irked me, those above are at a very similar level if not better so it's hard to argue really.
Don't take this one personally, it's their strongest area.

Now we're Jack O'Connell Scottish and not getting picked with the state of their defence I'd be the first one in the line for uproar.

McGinn has had to withdraw from the Scotland squad as he doesn’t think he can get out of John Fleck’s pocket in time for the game.

Both O'Neils should be looking for some Irish heritage in Fleck while McLeish pisses about.

Regarding JOC, with a name like O'Connell you'd think he'd have some paddy blood too.

Fleck is a true Rangers man - I can’t see him playing for the republic.

Did anyone know what Flecks injury was? Hope it’s not too serious! Luckily two week break has come up
