One change that I've experienced in my footy lifetime is back in the sixties/early seventies is that many fans went to both the Lane and Hillsboro (with the odd rare away game) including me and my mates - perhaps a reflection of admission prices
Saying that most of us had part-time jobs whilst at school and went to work at 15 years old, and yes we did have jumpers for goal posts and ate Hovis :(

We all know ticket revenue for the top leagues is insignificant in comparison to the money they receive from tv rights and all of the sponsorship monies they receive. Also it isnt a fuckin hobby...shows you what kind of a blade you are if you think of it like that.

I’m a blade who’s had a season ticket for his entire life and who’s seen his club on more than 92 league grounds.

Good swerve though, proving you can’t answr my question. We are talking about United here, and ticket revenue is very significant.

Now I’ve put you back in your box I’d either stay there, or answer the question.

Your argument is that the club relies heavily on gate revenue and needs to charge what it can. Essex is saying these prices are too high for low income families and the potential to attract new fans is also similarly limited.

Given we look like having the spare capacity ftm, where's the harm in offering say 1000 cut price tickets per game to low income households, or going back to 4 x Cat C games per season? Would you or any STH reject that as a concept?

Yes £30 plus if you don't have a season ticket ...

The cheapest full adult ticket against Aston Villa is £31 or £33 If you want to pay on the day (in the kop with a retricted view and cramped seats) ...

The point I was making if you don't have a season ticket that price would put you off ........... hence why the crowds are starting to dip

Good point. Last season when we played at Barnsley, I got talking to a Barnsley fan in the pub the day after. 'Did you go?' he asked. I told him 'No' and that, back in the day, I'd have rang round a few mates on the morning of the match, a few pints in Sheffield and get the bus or train to Barnsley. A few quid to get in the match and repeat. Now it's just too much bollocks. Loyalty points, herded like animals and £36 to get in. No thanks.

£23 vs Brum the game after. There's plenty of seats which are unrestricted if you could be arsed looking. And that's for a full paying adult of working age. Juniors, kids and OAPs pay a lot less. Crowds will pick up if we go on a run like we did this time last year.

Thats a reasonable price but its an uninspiring midweek game that you can watch on sky via the red button for nothing..... which I'm guessing a lot of people will do (even some with season tickets)

In the 1980s and early 1990s I went to watch various other games with mates - yes, even at the Sty - when United were away or weren't playing. I did the same at University and after I first started working in London. That seems to have become increasingly uncommon, as far as I can tell. As grafikhaus says, it's hard to do this spontaneously any more. People seem more partisan. A related phenomenon is that occasionally people used to applaud good goals or good play by the opposition. That seems to have died out.

I think we may be hitting an attendance tipping point after 30 years of almost uninterrupted growth. Blame too high prices, economics generally, and (increasingly) live streaming.

Only in your head have I not answered the question. Ticket revenue isnt the be all and end all at this level and a small reduction in costs would lead to higher attendances, more new fans..all of which would spend money in the ground and at the superstore..bigger picture, a concept alien to you!
It's OK, doormats like you love paying over the odds for things without any fuss and fck those less fortunate eh?..anyway back to your "hobby"...

Crowds are there for one thing , atmosphere these days
big new grounds are more statements of status than to accomodate fans

Spurs wanted a look at us we can build a 64000 seat stadium to match Arsenal , not to get more fans in
tv revenue is ten tiimes what ticket income is even with 60 k gates

thats why prem clubs can offer 20 quid away fan tickets, its not philanthropic , its another statement that they are getting loads of money in from tv

I'm on pay as you go and try and stretch £20 to a year. I paid £28 to be in the Westfield on Saturday and it was great value.
