Player Suggestion Tammy Abraham

We don't have a choice: a prolific championship striker generally costs £10m and above - we can't afford that, so any signing we make will have to be a gamble.

Some Gambles are more risky than other Gambles.
When you gamble you weigh everything up.
You take into account his injury record, the fact he's not played 1min of any friendly or league game so far this season, the fact they could be willing to let him go to a side that could be challenging them for promotion, The cost.
Hogan is like a 33/1 shot yes they do go in occasionally but not very often.
And when you only have limited money to spend backing 33/1 shots is not the best way to spend what little money you have.

Unless I see legitimate proof saying 'United aren't signing Tammy Abraham on loan' I'll believe we are

In your opinion obviously. If the bet is we buy Hogan and he scores 15 this season at 33-1 I’d take that bet all day long. He’s not any more of a long shot than any other forward we could realistically sign. In fact if we’re talking odds I’d say he’s probably up there as a best bet. Comparative to what else is available. IMO.

For those who are doubting the potential loan signing of Hogan - what is the real reason for it - his fitness, his salary or record at Villa?? As has been previously said, if he was firing at Villa, Utd wouldn't be even close to being able to afford him. If CW is indeed prefers to go after proven Champ level quality over taking risks on L1 and L2 level players being able to step-up, there will inevitably be some sort of compromise. However, of the potential causes of concern I mention, I'm sure CW would only take a chance if Hogan is at or close to fitness, his salary should largely be irrelevant as he's a loan (would there be such a fuss if he was on £15k/week but with a £1m loan fee?) and his record at Villa should, on the whole, be ignored - it's common knowledge that Bruce's style of play doesn't suit him, whereas the number of chances created by Utd may well suit better.

I know some gambles are riskier than others.

Your original post I was responding to implied we shouldn't take any sort of gamble, and I was trying to point out that I don't think that's possible.

Bolt is so fast he makes Monty's through-balls look pinpoint.

Seems that we're waiting for Villa to get Abraham then maybe we can get Hogan. Sorry if this has being mentioned before. Can't believe anyone thought we'd get Abraham though!?

To be fair, the last 4 pages of this topic have mainly been about Hogan anyway, it's confused me at times.

It sure beats the Assombalonga rumours!!

I don't see why we'd help Villa out financially but loaning Hogan (who is surplus to requirements) after they loan Abraham.

Can't we just jump straight in to Abraham? After our development of Blackman last season, you'd think the relationship would be pretty decent.

I’ve heard that he’s on 60 k a week, o way we’d stretch to that !

I'm not saying he will come, but what evidence is there to suggest that Abraham 'would never come to us'? He was quite happy to go to Bristol City on loan and I don't think of them as being a bigger club than us. He should be as likely to come to us as Villa. Klopp expressed a desire for Woodburn to come to us rather than Villa - a ringing endorsement, and I'm sure Jamal would recommend us after his time at the Lane too.

It’s been reported he’s reluctant to drop down to the championship after a season on loan in the prem at Swansea last year. He didn’t pull up any trees in a relegated side so maybe needs to accept he’s not quite Premier league quality at the moment. Doubt anyone at Chelsea would recommend he come to us rather than Villa. Chelsea’s first priority is money. They couldn’t give a fuck about the progression of there young players compared to Klopp. Ultimately they seem to just want to sell there youth on for a profit

If anything has made a mockery of FFP its this Transfer window, teams just buying their way out of emabrgos what even is the point of trying anymore? we do it because its a great excuse to be conservative and im pleased we do, but serious question what have the teams who were under embargo actually done to reverse it?? Villa look like adding Tammy Abraham, the former Ajax lad and Bollasie? proper joke
