Didn’t go at all last season as I was living in New Zealand, so yesterday was my first game for ages. Here’s my take on it, some of which is different to many so it shows it’s all about opinions!

1. Defensively we are still poor.

I love the attacking nature of seeing centre halves popping up in the opposition box, but we looked all over the place at the back, particularly when QPR broke at pace. Egan looks very average, JOC wasn’t much better yesterday and I thought Stearman was our best defender. However, Henderson was called into action way too often and dished out some deserved bollockings. Better teams will carve us up.

2. Basham isn’t good enough to play centre midfield for us.

I know he plays heart-on-sleeve and I have never faulted his commitment, but yesterday was vintage Bash. Blood and thunder, plenty of tackles and commitment but no idea what to do with the ball and a very limited display. No disrespect to him, but we must sign someone better. Obviously Coutts to come back.

3. We dangerously lack creativity.

We created nothing until the goal and nothing after the penalty. We simply must sign someone with creativity. Fleck worked hard and Duffy can be that player, but it wasn’t working yesterday and apart from one incredible second half save, their keeper had little to do bar the two goals. All we ever do is go wide for the cross and most of our players are amazingly bad at crossing.

4. Stevens was not that bad

Thought he did ok. Don’t understand the abuse he gets that Basham doesn’t. He’s a very committed, hard-working player who just isn’t our best. I’d prefer someone better, but he’s not the first player I’d replace.

5. Henderson is some keeper

Great saves, drops nothing, bold and he clearly loved the win. What a signing he could be and who knows how many points he will win us.

6. Time for a rest Leon

He did nothing yesterday, except the one shot where really he should have scored (amazing save though). I don’t get how he’s defended for working hard. He’s a pro footballer, that’s the minimum requirement. I don’t even really mind whether he works hard up top as long as he does something when it arrives, but he has to get himself in the game and he didn’t. Billy was unfortunate to get hooked. We’re desperate for another striker.

7. Blades away days though...

Great atmosphere, cracking day out, good game, great result and even the pre-match Carlsberg tastes nice. Great to be back!

My thoughts exactly.

The amount of extra credit a certain someone gets for that brace at that place is, in all probability, impossible to overstate.

Other than Henderson a lot of that seems at odds with other blades who went(I didn't go), opinions eh.

I don' t think it does thou. most Blades I spoke to after the game and on the train home said similar to that OP.

Pretty much nailed it for me, although I wouldn’t have criticised Bash, but as a general assessment he is correct

I know I'm not the first to point this out but before hallowing Henderson as the best keeper we've had since Blackman, he needs to sort out his distribution, he definitely put the ball straight out of play (unintentionally) at least twice and I wasn't counting just getting annoyed.
I think some of your points ie 'creativity' can be put down to us just not playing well.

I didn't go. I only watched on Ifollow, but on the Stevens point, he really should be crossing earlier and more accurately IMHO.

That’s a good point I should probably have mentioned too. His distribution is pretty terrible.
