Apologies if this one has done the rounds on here, but since i'm one of the BU refugee's it might be interesting to "do again"...

What is your favourite ground that you've visited whilst supporting the Blades?

I actually think mine would be Nottingham Forest.

Atmosphere - ***** We alwasy have a right good ol' sing song and banter there and i've had some great trips there!

Amenieties - **** Bollox really but as there's a Hooters near the ground it gets extra marks for me and the beers never too expensive!

Travel ***** Piece of piss really to get there

Memories ***** Play off...

Good post.

QPR, Watford, Burnley, Preston & Barnsley.

Dislike going to Reading, Birmingham, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Forest, Scunthorpe, Sunderland.

Maybe something to do with our record/memries there though.

For me the best ground in the country is the Stadium of Light, first time there battered 4 - 1, I think, then lost in the playoffs, and lost in the cup, always had a daunting atmosphere ........

Best moment there, beating the Turks

Back in the days, the old Baseball Ground was always a good trip. As was Filbert Street and i always enjoyed Notts County for some reason.

In recent years, Charlton has been a bit of a favourite!

I love going to Crewe, always a great atmosphere there and the old shed song comes out.

Just going to say the same thing Rachy, plus we always win there !

Maybe it's an age thing but I prefer going to the 'old school' grounds these days, hate these soulless new grounds with little or no atmosphere. Go to Fleetwood every now and again, great to stand up again and see the fans swap ends at half-time, marvellous stuff

For me would have to be the teams who have since moved to new grounds.

Old stoke ground (help with name please think it was victoria ground)
Baseball ground (Derby last went in 1990/91 season 2nd game in stole a 1-1 draw in last minute)
Burnden park (bolton)
Had some good days at Maine road to (man city)

God theres loads, good post

Always enjoy going to QPR and enjoy the weekend in Newcastle when we play them.

When we were in the premiership I was pleasently surprised by Chelsea, traditional style football ground and a good atmosphere before and during the game. unlike the Tuesday night trip to Spurs !!

QPR for me (though the cancelled game against Leyton Orient turned into a fun day out). Basically just for getting hammered on Goldhawk Road.

Easy .............. BDTBL.

In recent seasons an away game that most sticks in my memory was Southampton on the final day of 2007/8 season. It's a good stadium I thought for one of the modern ones and the atmosphere was extra special. We sold out and brought over 3,000 down as we had an outside chance of the play offs, Southampton had to win to stay up which they did 3-2. But the tension around the ground among the Saints fans in the final minutes was something else. For a change it wasn't us that were praying for the final whistle or dreading the final minutes. Then there was a mass pitch invasion at the end. It reminded me of the old days and it was my first trip to Southampton. The rivalry between the fans in the stadium was pretty good too. In contrast Palace away on the final day last season was an anti-climax. I like visiting QPR and Arsenal in London. Well Arsenal because at least i can walk there and back. When i was a youth Hull away always caused a tingle of excitement and anticipation. And Rotherham used to be fun although the ground was amongst the worst especially the narrow lane leading down to the Railway End. Most times there would be more Blades than Millers in the ground with half the Tivoli End full of Blades as well.

QPR - obviously a popular one but there is something special about the place and the local hostelries. Maybe it's because at the bigger London grounds you never seem to see a Blade before our after the game - not the case at QPR in my experience

Forest, Barnsley and West Brom next in list for me in no particluar order

Current
Forest - Cracking Away end in the sunshhhiiiin-na.

Crewe - before they built that new stand, It was just a nice compact little ground where you could have some decent banter with the home fans.

Demolished Grounds
Highbury - Nicknamed the Library for a reason, but it was a fantastic traditional 4 sider.

Foriegn
Wolfsburg - Went there back in 2003, Great setting right next to the river and close to the Old Town. Looks like a huge VW showroom. Like all modern stadia its got

Santos - how can you like Barnsley? Its a right shit hole with Naff facilities and one fo the worst grounds to get away from EVER! I've sat in that car park for what felt like hours after a game there....

I guess...the banter makes up for it....AND laughing at all the dingles pissing in the rain outside kinda makes you alugh even harder....

ok fair do's....for entertainment i take it back

Charlton, Preston, Villa Park, Sunderland to name a few

One (or two) it most deffo isn't is Wembley!!!

Everton, Charlton and QPR. Last two because you can actually go in boozers near the ground with no aggro, QPR you're even allowed in with the home fans!! Always had a soft spot for Grimsby, didn't enjoy the 9/11 day game though, all a bit surreal. Bradford is another one, probably as it's the nearest ground to me and I can be home for 5.30 for a change. As for the new grounds, even if we don't have a lot of luck there and the stewards suck, Stadium of Light for the atmosphere.

Agreed Charlton is good - one of the best days out when we drew 1-1 in prem. Dont mind the little grounds like Scunny, Crewe etc. Blackpool can be a laugh at the right time of year - last season was good. Emirates, Old Trafford, St James Park, all spectacular grounds. Millenium Stadium is good too, prefer it to the new Wembley.

Any away ground where the blades take all 3 points is a good ground for me!!

Always loved going to Blackpool / PNE matches although PNE is a nightmare to get away from. Used to enjoy all the old 4th Div away games...Darlington and Bury stand out for me that season and also the Shay...went 1-0 down and went on to win 1-5
Great days!

UTB

grimsby
its like a home game by the sea honestly
get a day trip to cleethorpes gallon of beer love it
besides even were not playing them always easy to spot a blades shirt at cleethorps

I quite enjoy trips to Derby.

We take a fair few down there with it being close, and the banter and atmosphere seem decent.

Tramere
Grimsby
Notts County
Crewe

Strange thing is it is difficult to say why but I suspect it may be that the home fans are all locals and not glory seekers.

manor ground in oxford was always a good day out

anyone remember the day many moons ago when the oxford fans came down the pitch from the home end (used to do it every week, i went to uni down their so used to watch them often) only for utd to climb the god awful blue fences and chase them back down the pitch - fantastic entertainment, even if a little un-PC after this weeks antics by our pals down in E8.

like many others here i prefer the older grounds.. i reckon this is why so many fans like coming here.. city ground (forest) is always a good day out but my all time favourite was maine road.. basically cos it was so dangerous to get there if you went on the train.. it was like going through a war zone.

Brentford's a good day out, though it's 20 years since we've played there. There's a pub on all 4 corners of the ground.

Watford and Charlton are two other trips I enjoy. Also Norwich - pain to get to, but a good place to have an evening out.

manor ground in oxford was always a good day out

Yes, although on 2 of my 3 trips the weather was appalling (freezing in 1996-7, torrential rain in 1998-9). Headington's a good area for a few beers.

Bury and Grimsby are always good days out.

Of the 'big' grounds I enjoyed going to Old Trafford and Highbury.

Charlton is a good one (provided you can avoid Millwall around London Bridge - plenty of good boozers). Liked Pompey just for the noise, Southampton as well.

I think I've only been to one more than once - The City Ground. I love it there in terms of the surroundings and the ground itself is nice, but the second time I went (FA Cup, we won 3-0) the fans in the upper tier started chucking a few coins and things.

I loved Gresty Road when we went there and won 3-1. Lovely place, good fans, and I was front row so had one of the best views in the house for Shipperely's opener.

Edit: Been to Old Trafford more than once too now I think about it but that was a neutral venue rather than away.
