If you watch the left flank in an attack situation, JOC gets forward faster than Stevens, puts in better passes/crosses, than Stevens, is better in both boxes than Stevens, gets back quicker than Stevens, defends better than Stevens, keeps the ball better than Stevens, in short, he's probably doing half of Stevens job, aswell as his own, which is why we get caught out, we'd actually be better playing JOC on the left and sticking Stearman in with Bash an Egan at the back.
Stevens has done himself no favours at all, and it's beyond me why he plays every week, he brings very little to the party.
Absolutely spot on. We have a better defensive option in Lafferty warming the bench, or the potential option of putting JOC into LWB and then giving Bryan a run out at LCB, or the other way round.
That being said Chris and Alan are all over their stats, so they must be seeing something that isn't obvious to most of us. I know that Beans highlighted this in his podcasts as well when looking at last seasons stats, i.e. Stevens seems to deliver more than is immediately apparent.
