The business requires approximately £6 million / annum to cover running costs.
Last years were covered by sell on fees from Walker etc.
The next two seasons will be covered by Brooks money, take out loans secured against it to cover cash flow.
This leaves us Bill Nil available for transfers, unless we assume that the owners dispute will be sorted within 12 months in which case we have £6 million to spread between fees and wages.
If you were Mccabe or HRH would you expose yourself to more debt, whilst running the risk of losing control?

Don’t be so cynical the owners would never have thought of that. Wilder has the Brooks money to come, all 3 quid of it.

Oh so we make no money by being in the championship, TV coverage, merchandise from club shop, domestic cup competitions etc....?

Nett losses are £6 million / annum, unless we draw Man U in the cup in which case our budgeted income is increased

Plus the 6th best average attendances in the league last season. Weird how clubs who get a lot smaller crowds than us out-spend us.

Then I'd have to question why we are losing such a large sum. Season ticket sales are good, Matchday attendances are good, and I suspect the wage bill is in the bottom ten of the championship.

Of course we do, but taking all that into account we still make a loss of £4 - 5 million a year. :(
Presumably the increased potential budget for transfers this time of around £9m (Egan + Waghorn fees) was to have been funded by the owners as part of the deal struck between the 2 during pre-season

I agree but can only quote the accounts.

We seem to have administrative running costs commensurate with those of a team in the premiership yet player costs commensurate wit( those of a top division one club whilst as you say having better than average other income. Something that has never really added up. Better ask McCabe

I'm more cynical, we have no intention of going for promotion until the ownership is sorted out.
Infact how much cheaper would a recently relegated 1st Division club be worth for the even more cynical in me.
Something certainly does not add up with this transfer window so far.
Very very cynical Blade.

Of course 3 top loan signings could change all that.

Fickle Blade.

I don't believe our losses are 4-5M even after all of the above factors are accounted for. If it was true then surely what's the point in running a football club if you're not in the premier league?

You either stagnate in the lower leagues and sell the occasional player to survive
Go for it and spin the wheel of fortune in the hope of making it to the premiership
Or do neither in which case you have owners called HRH and McCabe and hope that you employ a magician like Bassett, Warnock or Wilder as a manager and hope to do it on the cheap.

Think the last sufc ltd accounts showed something like 100 employed on the football side and another 100 on the non football side.
A lot are probably part time match day staff but it does beg the question as to if part of our big deficit is cos we have too many on the books. Think they also showed gate receipts all swallowed up by wages.
Give me quality over quantity every time.

Assuming that teams like Yeovil make a much lower loss than us, what's the point in running a club like Yeovil though?

Which clubs do you think are actually making a profit then?

How much money do we waste on things most fans don’t give the remotest shit about?

Sufc Ladies for example?

Well if we're losing 4-5m a season by literally having the lowest budget in the championship then fuckin no one is making a profit

These are from 2015/16 but they show you what we're up against.

Birmingham City: turnover £14.7m, loss £(5.0)m
Blackburn: turnover £22.0m, loss £(1.5)m
Bolton W: no accounts filed**
Brentford: turnover £10.6m, loss £(12.6)m
Brighton: turnover £24.6m, loss £(25.9)m
Bristol C: turnover £14.2m, loss £(14.9)m
Burnley: turnover £40.0m, loss £(5.0)m*
Cardiff C: turnover £31.4m, loss £(9.5)m
Charlton A: turnover £12.1m, loss £(13.5)m**
Derby C: turnover £22.6m, loss £(14.7)m
Fulham: turnover £36.0m, loss £(12.9)m
Huddersfield T: turnover £11.3m, loss £(1.6)m
Hull City: turnover £41.9m, loss £(20.7)m*
Ipswich T: turnover £16.3m, loss £(6.0)m
Leeds U: turnover £30.1m, loss £(8.9)m
Middlesbrough: turnover £21.7m, loss £(32.0)m*
MK Dons: turnover £11.7m, loss £(1.6)m**
Nottingham F: turnover £18.4m, loss £(2.2)m
Preston NE: turnover £10.6m, loss £(4.4)m
QPR: turnover £41.9m, loss £(11.0)m
Reading: turnover £25.8m, loss £(15.0)m
Rotherham U: turnover £13.3m, loss £(1.5)m
South Barnsley Midweek: turnover £22.0m, loss £(9.8)m
Wolves: turnover £27.2m, profit £5.8m

One club made a profit (Wolves - driven by selling Benik Afobe for £10m); only 6 lost less than the £5m we are aiming for this year - Blackburn (15th), Huddersfield (19th), MK Dons (23rd, relegated), Forest (16th), Preston (11th), Rotherham (21st). The promoted sides were either relegated the year before (Burnley, lost £5m; Hull, lost £20.7m) or bankrolled by generous owners (Middlesbrough, lost £32m!)

I am referring to nett losses, the ones that have been referred to in our accountants on a consistent basis reveal that we for some god forsaken reason run at a consistent loss of £6 million / annum.
This is offset by incoming transfer fees, the occasional run in the cup competitions or direct investment / loans from the owners.
Why it is £6 million is, as I say a question for McCabe and HRH but this is the fact provided by recent accounts

Found the 2016/17 P&L figures:

upload_2018-8-10_11-10-15.png

Four clubs made a profit; two of those are traditionally lower league clubs arguably performing above their station (Burton, Wigan). Only one of those finished in the top half and that was fuelled by parachute payments (Norwich). The top half clubs lost £189.5m between them.

Maybe they could start doing a few car boots to help out?

"It's in the accounts
