Gone Elsewhere Martin Waghorn

You really think they will roll over and let us tickle their bellies live on TV.

Those three players you mention have in the past had good performances against us,i even remember Clucas having a great game when he played for Mansfield in a cup game against us,we should have signed him.

I don’t think they will roll over and let us tickle their bellies. That would be silly and it would ruin the game as a spectacle.

They’re on a downer mate, I’m tellin ye!

I’m young enough to remember them going from 4th division to first and back down again within a few years.

For Swansea, read; “Dying Swan”.

They are doomed!

And ours will be the first nail in the coffin!

I'd be quite happy to see Waghorn arrive here as I think his game would really suit us.

That said I think it's unlikely. I do, however, admire how Ipswich are dealing with this.

I am sure Chris has other targets [beyond Gallagher, Hogan and Nugent] but he is doing a bloody good job of keeping them out of public knowledge. I would be tempted to put in a couple of bids elsewhere on Monday and leak them immediately. This might force Ipswich's hand if they think they could lose out on 5M [or whatever we have bid] as we are going to spend it elsewhere, and more importantly it might make Waghorn kick up enough of a stink for them to relent?

Hopefully we have an exciting week ahead.

There are supposedly more than half a dozen clubs who have to offload to meet FFP obligations. It wouldn't suprise me if this is all just brinkmanship, as we know targets have to be sold to somebody before the end of the window.

They have one year to really go for it.If not, the reduction in parachute payments will render them a normal championship club. When the parachute payments are gone, they are back to being a small club.

Do people really believe we've bid £5 million (straight fee) for Waghorn? Really?

No transfers involve ‘straight fees’. All deals are beefed up with contingencies and paid in instalments. Very few people know the full details and you and I are not amongst them. What do you think/guess we’ve offered?

I think we’ve offered free Pukka pies for life and a tanker lorry of Bovril piped in direct to the home every Thursday.

Like us eh?

We did thinks differently in some respects.Kept a relatively low wage bill in the Prem, sold a few players when relegated e.g. Jags and then decided to spunk the Tevez money, plus parachute payments in one year - dwarfing our premier league investment. The club should have recalibrated itself, and aimed to be a West Brom (a yo yo team), not the PSG/Man City of the Championship which we chose to become. We maintained a top six budget even when we were relegated to league one, although we did offload certain players during this period (Beattie, Walker/Naughton). We were living in a fool's paradise.I imagine our income streams were bigger than Swansea's though, as we are a bigger club in the traditional sense. Parachute payments, or financial doping gives even a small club a massive advantage in getting promoted at the first attempt.Swansea would do better to maximise transfer fees, and get their wage bill to suistainable levels asap. They may be a contender for a longer period then. Most clubs don't, and go 'all in' on instant promotion.

If you bid £5 million for a player you bid £5 million for a player. Not if that player becomes the Queen or scores 750 goals in a season. It's the same nonsense as adding wages into a fee. This all began a few years ago. No idea why. Like the ultimate nonsense of a transfer record undisclosed fee. Utter tripe.

I have no idea how much we've bid, but there are many on here who keep telling me we bid £5 million .I've not heard Wilder mention anything about a fee and all we get from Ipswich is la la land figures yet they're giving no pre-season playing time to their best player. I find it suspicious that we've suddenly bid £4 million and £5 million for players. Out of the blue. With both owners in dispute. sounds legit.

Spoken like a true Bluebird.

Season 82/83 look who they played in the European Cup Winners Cup.....................PSG

He’s gone top level. Teams bid down from that. It’s not difficult to grasp. Blades, however, haven’t got that mentality. We set the sights low hoping for high.
You manage to turn a facetious remark by a rival manager into an attack on your own club’s “mentality”?

So if Leeds sign Vydra and Derby sign Waghorn, will that mean we could sign Kemar Roofe?

It’s all about triangles innit?

You are just toyin wi me,you mishevious security man.

Ha! you've given me a clue now you've put "Paris" in the name...

Bloody hell! I'd like to have played with her in the European Cup for sure! It would have gone to extra time and a shoot-out I can promise you.

Anyhow, we should get back on track. This thread is supposed to be about Martin Waghorn, not any other kind of wagging the horn. I have noticed he's not signed for us yet. That's disappointing. But it's also encouraging. Because he's not signed for anyone else yet either - so we are still in with a chance.

Wilder said he's expecting things to hot up over the next few days. It seems that one move is dependent on another. It's a bit like a blocked drain, or impacted faeces, I reckon - once the first big lump is cleared it will all come gushing out after that.

Drop a few Sennas and the proverbial will flow :D

Ipswich said to be very keen on Kayden Jackson at Accrington. Like Ellis Harrison, he's an attacker who can run with the ball.

Waghorn's definitely leaving.
