I thought the wingbacks had to hold their positions tonight against the opposition they were up against and did it well. A learning experience for them.

Freeman - he digs in better, Baldock to me is a tad lightweight. Before anyone has a go I think both of them are decent and the competition between them is what we need.

Baldock is the better all round player although he wasn’t brilliant tonight.

Freeman’s goals covered a multitude of poor performances defensively, and even in League One teams were targeting him particularly in the air. (IMO)

Freeman for me. Baldock has the tricks but lacks the end product going forward. Freeman can actually put in a decent cross and adds a few more goals.

Freeman for me. Much more direct, which suits our style of play much better. How many times did we say last season that our build up is too slow? Alot of this comes from the wing backs. Far too often last season Fleck / Duffy / Lundstram ect had the ball in the middle of the pitch & there weren't any options available to move the ball forward, quickly. Freeman offers that genuine width as he's always bombing down the wing attempting to get in behind. His direct style of play also means he's a genuine goal threat, which Baldock isn't unfortunately. I also think it's an area we need to improve on down the left side.

I do think Baldock is better defensively but I'm not so sure that his defensive ability alone is enough to convince me otherwise.

Think too many people are forgetting Freeman hardly played in the Championship last season. He IS NOT going to weigh in with the goals he did in league 1.

They’re both quality IMO.

Baldock is the only player in the squad I’d call quick. We need the pace.

I do think freeman offers a little more quality going forward though.

If Baldman also had Baldock’s defensive ability and Freeman’s attacking ability then he would be a hell of a player!

Baldock could be brilliant. Sadly, his end product lacks. He gets himself into great positions for us time and time again and then either picks the wrong option, or executes the correct one poorly.

Baldock has more potential in my opinion, but as it stands Freeman is the better player.

Baldock, looks a better all round player and has proved himself on the Championship. But Freeman does offer a lot more potential in the final third. If he can prove he offers regular goals in the championship, it would be a very tight call.

For me, Freeman is a lot better than Boldock. Boldock did a good job last season but I always thought we missed Freeman. Wilder started Freeman in the last few games last season and explained that Freeman "gives us a little bit more" in the final third. In those last few games Freeman showed this to be the case. Today, for me anyway, this was also the case. I thought Boldock struggled today but when Freeman came on we had so much more down the right.

I think Freeman is a better finisher than Baldock. But Baldock is more of an attacking threat. In the box I’d rather have Freeman. Outside the box I’d rather have Baldock. I can’t decide really! Help!

Baldock contributed 1 goal, and 1 assist in the whole season I believe, no where near enough for a wingback in this attacking side.

Totally agree, especially regarding composure.

I don’t think so. Baldock was brought in as an improvement over Freeman. I think that’s about right tbh.

Freeman can play central defence though, if needed.
