Posted the answer to this on another thread. I support one team Sheffield United. England I follow and the WC's helping me get through the boring summer and avoid the dreaded tennis. I don't understand any Blade who wishes success for another team at the expense of the Red and White Wizzards. Where were all these so called England fans when they were cheering paper planes scoring or abusing the team in Malta.

I don't want to mix with pigs in pubs and be mates with them for a few weeks or followers of any other team. They'll be advocating half and half steel city derby scarves next. Were all England aren't we. No were fuckin not I'm a Blade whose pleased our national team is playing for each other for once and in an attacking formation but I'm not the same as any pig or weeds or Brum or Florist fan. They'll be the ones shouting abuse at us this season when any international success will soon be forgotten. Let the pigs be the glory hunters they'll claim credit for any success anyway as they are the ultimate part time supporters.

Good luck to the team tomorrow hope they progress. If in the unlikely event they win it will I be out in the streets? No whilst appreciating the feel good factor it may create I'll be looking forward to the first game against Swansea and before that the pre season friendlies. Once a Blade always a Blade, England are just a passing distraction.

Sheffield United have the opportunity to gain promotion every year (unless in the Premier League of course, but that would deem the question irrelevant). I'm relatively young and I've seen it twice.

England only get the chance to win the World Cup once every four years. Many people in their 50's can't remember the last time it happened.

Even though I'm club before country, it absolutely has to be the World Cup. It's not like we're France, Germany or Brazil where the chance will pop up quite regularly. It's England who've been shit for years. I can't even imagine the celebrations if they were to win the fucker. It'd be incredible.

Before anyone claims that I'm not club before country for thinking this, if the same question was posed about the Euros then it'd 100% be a United promotion. The Euros are a bit like Gogglebox - it's alright to watch, but it's hardly summet you really look forward to seeing.
