Boro game moved

Utter fucking nonsense.

All because Boro are now playing West Brom on TV Friday 24th. Because playing Tuesday - Friday is impossible at this gruelling stage of the season.

Apparently this is a sufficient reason to mess about with our fixture schedule.

This significantly changes our start to the season and makes it harder. And for what?

To be indirectly affected by Sky like this absolutely stinks.

Our first 3 games was previously...

Swansea - H
QPR - A
Norwich - H

But now it's...

Swansea - H
Middlesbrough - A
QPR - A

Looks significantly harder doesn't it?

A team's start to the season can be very important and ours has been fucked about with for no good reason.

So if I'm correct we've got 4 games in 10 days.

Bullshit.

In fact it's 5 games in 2 weeks because we play on the 18th too.

4th, 7th, 11th,14th, 18th.

Don’t United have to agree to this upon request? Or do the FL dictate?

I remember united agreeing to similar moves in the past and citing reciprocal relationships as the reason.

It'll only get worse. Sky are the cancer of football.

But plenty of people will still hold on to their precious subscriptions nonetheless.
Totally agree. I have some Sky channels via my free employee BT vision box as it's the only way to watch the golf majors (other than trying to rely on dodgy streams). I hardly watch any football on Sky.
BT are also adding to the problem paying millions for Premier League and Champions League.

Kidney punching school kids moves forward one week then.

In all seriousness this makes that first home game against Swansea huge now.

I guess there'll be certain financial benefits to agreeing to move games. Especially if live tv is involved.

Sadly the club will receive more revenue from tv than it does us fans. In reality we're only really there to make the 'product' more exciting...

Then again, if you expand it to the first five games (nobody's counting the mickey mouse vs Hull), it's the same five opponents in a three week period, just in a different order?

The 2 week period from the 4th, to the 18th having 5 games is a bit much though.

Why don’t we leave the negativity aside for a second and look at it another way. Win our first two and we will be clear at the top, leading from the front and sending out a statement to the rest of the division, come and catch us.

Good opportunity to lay our marker down early.

Don’t see the major deal with games changing. It’s the championship the premiership is even worse.

Fair enough have a moan if booked a hotel in Mboro but apart from that judge yourself if you want to go to the game or not.

Personally I don’t mind the times and dates changing and I go to 90% of matches Home and away.

So will we be the only Championship fixture that night? It’s a bizarre one this. Why move it so far forward? And I agree with Ricky - the start you get off to can be very crucial.

So how's that different to the period between the 11th and the 25th where we did have five games?

It's only actually four as one is a reserve team match

When you put it like that.

For some reason in my head it was still 2014 and Hull weren't arse and didn't have Adkins in charge. Apologies.

Saying that though our reserve team is looking a bit thin at the moment so there might be a fair few regulars in.

I thought it was not how you start but how you finished?

I think you answered your own point there. What you're saying is that you don't like Sky, but lots of other people seem to think it's OK. But, by implication, you're saying that we should all just go with your view anyway.

I couldn't care less what others do, but if, as attending supporters they moan about Sky then they have no right to do so when long-haul games are moved to stupid times of the week.

So how was football better before Sky?

Ok, here's your starter for ten.
The "live" game was basically set up for those who could be arsed to get to the ground. Fixed kick-off times (3pm Saturday, 7.45 Mid-week), allowing plans to be made (travel, holiday's etc.) in the knowledge that only a major act of God would prevent it from happening.
Sunday's could be spent playing the game, or watching your offspring do so when the time came, without missing that important game at the Lane, and letting your team mates/children down (a priceless commodity).
A hundred less pundits and experts to endure.
