what was today official attendance think they said it at the end of the match but couldnt hear a thing.

it was 24,638.

Expected more to turn out to be honest.

I think people were put off by the result on Tuesday... whereas if they'd actually attended the Port Vale game it would have probably been a bigger crowd today!

bet theyll be more than that when we play wednesday or if we are around the top 2 at christmas makes me laugh how many part timers we have got.

What's a part timer? I don't live in Sheffield any more and it costs me about £100 a game when I do go, so I decided not to make the trip today. Will try to be there for the Pigs game because that's one not to miss, and it doesn't matter if we're top 2 or bottom 2 so does that make me a part timer?

Been going regular, home and away since 1969 and had season ticket till 2006, am I a part timer now?

I don't think anyone's accusing you particularly Mart, however I have thought this, when we got promoted, our average attendance was about 19-20k (not sure without checking of the exact figure) however when we got promoted, we could muster a 30k average and now were back down, it's at 24k, I think that's what spadge is getting at?

what was watfords turnout? i reckon the average prem away turnout was 3k = 27k blades per game.... its still a damn good turn out regardless 24k at a time when people will still be on holiday etc.

do they count beeps through the gate or are all STs accounted for? i ask because there were 3 empty seats on row A of the kop today where myself, pup jnt and pupette jnr were AWOl thanks to laddo having to go to his FC awards game, where he was young player of the year in his first season at adult level!

I think the season tickets used to be counted regardless. It'd be very very easy to do it by people through the gates these days, but no idea if it is.

Congrats on the award!

It's the middle of August, lots of people are on holiday at this time of year. 25,000 is probably one of the highest 10 attendances at any game today.

Watford will never attract a big crowd nor are they a local derby so the 25,000 wasn't so a bad turnout.Bring in an a big club or a local derby and the place will be full.

i meant to include the holiday theory in my post but i forgot :)

Im fairly sure that since the electronic system came into place the attendance is done by how many tickets are scanned in...

Was gutted I couldnt make it today as I had work commitments but will hopefully be one of very few games ill miss this year!!

Lincoln Blade

Nearly 25k at BDTBL

Thats a good attendance !!

Considering watford brought so few, Annual work holidays peak period, Recession etc etc

A few fans still have a bed taste remaining from the play off final with a few more wins happy days and the floaters should return

Sorry everyone, I didn't make it today. My son is away with his mum, so going on Tuesday when he gets back instead.

Does that make me a part-timer and somehow a lesser Blade than some of the others? Surely any measurement of a supporter should be just that, how much you actually support the team, as opposed to booing the players and genuinely moaning the whole match (especially if you;re sat anywhere near me).

WAIT to the end of the season.Judge the gates on the end of season figures.

I also think it was a reasonable crowd. In holiday season and a disapointing away following.

I noticed that Newcastle only got 36k today, about 10k down on their crowds from last year. Reading won't have taken many though...

I was actually quite surprised by the attendance, especially when you consider the "family day" rates.
But you do need to factor in the really poor turn out from Watford, they didn't bring more than 400 which puts us at 24,000 Blades which is a decent start.

I think there will be more than that on Tuesday mind.

Incidentally did any of the posters who have contacts in the club hear anything about an ultimatum given to Blackie today? I heard it from someone who doesn't usually deal in rumours and the like and has been going down the lane for too long to just make it up. I'm certainly not ITK, but this person has the right type of contacts to get information.
I don't want to post exactly what I was told as I can't substantiate it but if someone else heard anything similar it might give it a little more weight.

If no one else has heard anything I would file it under rumoured rubbish. Needless to say if correct Blackie was told that the board wanted to see a return you would expect given our comparative wage bill, starting today.

An away draw against a top three team, and a reasonably unlucky exit from the CCup, and NOW he's going to get the ultimatum?? Doesn't ring true to me. Ten games in and 12 points would seem like the moment for that. Fortunately, with a decent result on Tuesday, that would seem more of a hope than an expectation...

Exactly Dunc, that's what doesn't add up. That and the fact that McCabe seems to be a very reluctant firer.
Plus given the fact that no one can argue with Blackwells record of improvement year on year.
I'm no fan of his "style" but you can't say it hasn't progressed in terms of results and league placings.

It was just the source of the information that made me wonder, this isn't a guy in the pub or someone who always claims they are ITK about this deal and that. This is a guy I've known for 30 years from the Lane and I've never heard him say anything like it before.
Obviously I think it may be suspect which is why I asked if anyone ITK had heard anything similar. Also why I hid it away in another thread rather than starting one of its own.
I seriously doubt it has serious merit, but I wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything.

24k is a great crowd considering it is holiday season and the standard of entertainment served up last season

At least on the plus side with fewer fans in the ground there were fewer to boo, or complain, or do whatever else it is that people have got a bee in their bonnet about ;) every cloud, and all that!

Its every silver lining has a cloud at the Lane. :D

Do any of the stato's have the attendance against Watford for last season?
Just to compare it with the poor level of support they brought today.

You've answered the question yourself. If you don't go full time your a part timer.
I'm a part timer cos I only get to 4 or 5 away games.Even though I make every home game.

I'm deff a part timer from now on. The only game i'll make this year is Wembly if we get there again. Hope we get back to the prem as we can watch every prem game over here but championship games are just 2 a week. Saw the Middlesborough game and thought we were ok. Still don't like our midfield.

right, to all those that have the chip on the shoulder syndrome im not getting at anyone personally i understand that its harder for some people to get than others, i understand that its holiday season, and i understand that people have to work sometimes and cant get it off, what im saying is that if today we had been playing sheffield wednesday or manchester united or any other derby or big game there would have been 30k, i dont get to every away game the main reasons i just cant afford it and get the time off. however i get to all home games cup and league and about 80% of away including friendlies. I dont see me as a bigger blade than anyone where all united fans evan the ones who dont go at all (unless we play at wembley). what i was getting at was i thought that evan though it was watford with it been the first home game and the family day id have expected more blades to be there maybe some of the 40k who made it to wembley maybe would have come along you know to actually see where there TEAM play there home games. (cos i can bet some of them have never seen it). so rant over

Theres no such thing as 'bigger Blade', and how many games you go to doesn't make any difference anyway. Its like being pregnant, or dead. You cant be less pregnant or more dead. Either you are a Blade, or you're not.

Its a pointless argument, and always has been. Some people can get to more games than other people, and thats that.

£100 a game? That's a lot of booze and petrol. Are you in Cornwall now? I heard a rumour that what you actually said was, you wouldn't go again while Monty was playing. :)
