If it means less people don't get pissed and are less likely to get involved in trouble they normally wouldn't and the costs of policing are possibly less than I'm all for it. It might only be Rotherham but its a local game still and a big crowd. At least the games are on a Saturday.

So those who normally start boozing at 12 noon for a 3 o'clock kick off will look (and find no doubt) pubs opening at 9.15am for the 12.15 kick off.
Maybe the feds are hoping a bacon sandwich or couple of Weetabix will make all the difference? o_O
Indeed, it didn't put me off drinking for the Leeds game last season. If anything I drank even more in spite.

So your quite happy for a lot of fans to miss out because of work just because a couple of idiots want to go out and start fighting or what ever and cause trouble? The people it will effect won't be these people any way because people that end up in that mentality and trouble normally don't work or are the youngens which are to young to work or can't be bothered to get a job so again we effect the loyal fans that work on a Saturday morning because of a few idiots and your happy with this. Not trying to have a go but don't understand how people can have this mentality surely it would be better to just cut out the dick head element that are spoiling it for the normal fans? I know of at least two people who will struggle to make the game now who usually go to ever game they can but it's ok because it will mean less trouble obviously. If anything surely this attracts people with less loyalty points which seem to be the idiot element who only want to go to local matches and cause trouble because it looks good because loyal fans miss out lowering the bracket needed to get tickets?

Its annoying and very sad that we have the minority that can't behave themselves and we can all blame the Police as wankers etc and their record is far from perfect but I get why the police change the times. It might mean we pay less to have it policed at 12.15 than 3 who knows? I knew I'd get stick for what I said but I'm far from a yes man and I speak my mind, just has others do. Just my opinion and that's all really. Ultimately what I say matters not I haven't rang up the Police advising them to change the kick off.

What really annoys me is what Sky do changing games left, right and centre just to suit their schedule. At least this has being done early rather than within weeks as it is frequently with Sky.

Because it has been done early doesn't mean that people are going to be able to book the time off work and even if they did that means they would have to use 2 holiday days just for the sake of it? I am sure you wouldn't be having the same view if it effected you or your family. I totally disagree it will save any money at all all the people that want to go out and drink and cause trouble will still do that since when has a early kick off stopped people from going out? And it's quite simply really isn't it to separate fans maybe they should actually make the away fans in for 15 mins or even the home fans in for 15 mins after the game to usher the other fans away? There's simple solutions to all of this and the police get paid to think of these ideas and for me moving some thing to a early kick off isn't a solution to stopping trouble. As mentioned if anything it allows the idiots with less loyalty points get to the games and not the loyal fans who follow the blades all over the country? Surely these people are more likely to cause trouble I am just glad I don't get paid upwards of 40 grand a year to come up with plans that simply don't work and just impact football fans for all the wrong reasons. As you mentioned sky changing games the police was perfectly fine when they changed the derby game to a night match so people could go out drinking all day long then go to the match. Things never change for South Yorkshire police and they never fail to amaze me seems to only happen in South Yorkshire everyone else's police force manages perfectly fine with the policing.

How are SYP any worse than any other police force?

What they going to do if someone has had THREE Weetabix?

12.15, unless Sky want it Friday night, in which case the 'police advice' & health and safety, oh so mysteriously disappear, as happened to last season's steel city derby.

When there has been trouble at Utd v Rotherham?

What would the brain dead cunts do if we make it to the Premiership, full away support every week.

Fucking Pathetic , SYP & United for rolling over.

Nothing pal must have touched a nerve with that one. Seems to be quite a list going when it comes down to South Yorkshire police but let's just forget them. Also doesn't seem to be many kick offs get changed unless it involves a South Yorkshire club but that's fine to and as mentioned as soon as sky want the derby on a night game they back down because then they get even more money so once again all boils down to money nothing to do with public safety. It really can't be hard to think of a solution to policing fans at football matches maybe go for a bit of common sense and go for what they always say but never do and split fans up going out of the ground and have them leave 15 mins apart and let people get out of the way? Or lead the away fans to the train station keeping the home fans in people get paid serious amounts of money to sit there and think of plans and the best thing they can think of is making kick off earlier? I think it's ridiculous that people get paid all this money to think of ideas and the best thing they can do is change kick off time? Also as mentioned by doing that surely has no effect on things at all if not making it worse? As loyal fans with work commitments won't be able to make it meaning the idiot element that only want to know when it's the odd game where they can go and be nobs (low loyalty points) can get tickets due to the number of people been able to go is decreased? I don't mind people having different views to this but I just think it effects the fans and don't see it as been fair but quite curious to see other people's point of views on this. And wonder if there views would still be the same if it effected people they knew not been able to make the games because of it. Obviously you have some form of connection to the sypd so hence the rose tinted glasses and they can do no wrong.

You don't have to look any further than last years derby at Hillsborough to asses SYP's competence in policing local football. They scored a full house with the trams, delaying admission and allowing pigs to congregate on Hillsborough corner. The return wasn't much better, it was like a fucking police state within a 1 mile radius of the ground. Wankers.

Doubt United have that much say in it to be fair but might be wrong here?

Totally get its not ideal mate but the games are in December and March so would that not be enough time to-rearrange for your mates? I'm not trying to be sarcastic there by the way.

When Sky do it - solely so they can make the most money with several games in a day - its done within a few weeks of the fixture not months in advance. They should be a cut off point for Sky to do that and much more than one month or a few weeks.

No I understand what you are saying we all see it differently and I can't imagine it been a problem because as you said it's so far away but it does mean using 2 holiday days up for the sake of only a couple of hours. It doesn't affect me so I don't really know but my point was that there really has to be a better way of doing it and this shouldn't be the answer going forward and pushing the game forward a couple of hours surely doesn't put people off going drinking just as easy to go to Wetherspoons or any where that opens early and have a breakie and start drinking? So can't see how moving the game forward has a positive impact on trouble caused is the point I am trying to get to.
