Blackman's wages were always the issue. He would have been one of the highest, if not highest paid players at the Lane and Chelsea might not cover such a big % of his wage for a second loan spell.

You have to assume Blackman wanted to come back as he's not going to find a better club where he'd be first choice. So 2 conclusions...firstly the boss thinks Henderson is better or secondly Blackman was going to cost too much either as a loan fee and/or in wages.

It's understandable that we'd want to get the GK position sorted ASAP. Key position.

But I also think we've got this one done early because our management rate Henderson at least as highly as Blackman.

And he'll probably be cheaper too. Despite the hideous 25k p/w contract Man U have just chucked at him.

Glad we've got a stopper in but if he is reportedly on £25k a week then thats more than Blackman. Can only assume we've got a better relationship with Man U and got a better loan fee arrangement than Chelsea because our ex Academy Director is now working for them. Also Man U must be feeling guilty about imposing James Wilson on us.
