The thing is that it’s it’s true then a 5m fee comes with a bigger pay packet for the lad. If we’re not willing to match that then he would probably go

Sell him. Put a few million plus that money to sign one or more of:

Dwight Gayle
Nakhi Wells
Shane Long
Adam Armstrong

I’m on the £5m is nonesense side, but it is definitely possible teams will be interested in him. 100%, but we cannot sell him or Sharp until a replacement has come in. I’m not up for ‘get the money and then look’ because we could still end up losing out on our main targets and have no replacement.

The only issue is if Clarke wants to go and we say no, then the dummy will be out and he’ll be a waste of space next season.

This makes sense of this apparent nonsense. If Madine can be viewed as an answer to the question of how to achieve promotion then I guess a fit Leon Clarke, playing in a team where creativity isn't in short supply, could make sense of this type of figure. The fact that he scored, looked dangerous (although he could also look adrift at times), was able to take the role of focal point and do the job well.......maybe, and it's only a maybe, if £5mil is on the table we should first, have a replacement lined up, second, insert a clause that he can't play against us at t'lane.....well, a Blade can dream can't he?

I wouldn't worry too much. Given the source it's about as credible as a Milli Vanilli recording.
 

Why do people fall for these rumours? They appear from poor sources and are often posted by people who have never previously been bothered about posting. Anything could be true, but the likelihood is pretty low and it can't do the player or the team any good. After all Leon's done and achieved with us, imagine how it must feel to read "snap their hands off" or "he'll not have a season as good as this one again" etc etc.
Use a bit of common sense and deal with these rumours with caution until there's a bit more meat on them.

Personally, I wouldn't entertain him or Wendy, especially the rumoured £40k/week salary he's on.

Imagine if we fork out for someone from them who hasn't done owt for 3 years, only for him to do nowt for 4 years, they would laugh their fkin bollox off

Let them struggle to off load him, or let him stay and continue his plight

I don't know that market well enough to know if that's realistic. Great if it is but who are the realistic targets we could go after for a price we could afford to replace our main CF (genuine question)?

When have we ever signed a player from them who didn't get better?

They were laughing about Geary*, Bromby and Quinn and they all left them behind and got to the PL with us.

*I know he wasn't direct sale.
 
Who are we to stand in the way of Leon Clarke's ambition to play for all 92 league sides? In all seriousness, for £5m I'd snap their stupid tiger paws off. I admire the guy for last season and the way he ended the previous season. He's overcome demons and hardships, and his brace at Hillsborough elevates him to legendary status. My heart says however that last season was Peak Leon.

A lot. And he didn't score in all that many considering he scored 2 at Hillsborough, 2 v Wolves, 3 v Fulham and 4 v Hull. 7 goals were scored throughout the rest of the season. He's not good enough. He just happened to be the main striker in a team that created a shed load of chances.

If somebody came in with £5m you have to cash in. He'll never score 18 goals in the championship ever again.

Yes there's been interest.
No, nobody will pay 5mil for him at his age.

If he was 19 and had the two seasons he'd just had he'd be worth about 10mil, but at his age and with the likelihood of him replicating last year is be suprised if anyone bid over 2mil.

10mil doesn't guarantee you goals, ask the pigs so spending big money on strikers is always a gamble.

Personally I'd let him got for around 2.5mil buy that wouldn't buy us a striker that would replace last year's Clarke, if could however replace THIS season's version of him.

I can't believe so many have fallen hook, line & sinker for this ridiculous story.

Hull won't be paying £5m for anyone this summer, especially a 33 year old with a reputation (last season aside) of not really being able to cut it in the Champ.

Perhaps they'll turn their attentions to Troy Deeney next?!?!
