Fair enough. Let's leave it before people start killing themselves.

Although I may come back to you when the takeover is finally signed off :)

Sean. When 'the takeover is finally signed off' has nothing to do with anything we've been on about.

You are 'shifting the goalposts' again.

Some might think you are making sense I suppose but Wilder and his team have a new contract NOW and a bigger budget.

Bet you wish you had gone away for a fortnight:D

This forum was first. Biggs second. Danny third. Nothing wrong with that Danny. You did your job well.

Team effort.

The Power of the forum.

Nothing to do with the Forum. The conversation I heard was this:-

Prince - McCabe you son of a desert dog. Your man has gone too far now!
Kevin - Nowt to do wi me you penny pinching pretend prince, what's he done?
Prince - He's kicking off threatening to leave unless he gets some Dirhams.
Kevin - The twat! We're both fucked if he does that.
Prince - Says he wants some idea of whose in charge and what we're doing next season.
Kevin - We don't even know that. Get your point though. Whoever's in charge won't be able to go to a game without shoes getting chucked at him.
Prince - Shoes I can take McCabe, it's the chicken balti pies I fear.
Kevin - We've been kippered Abdul. It's lose lose if he goes. If I win and he's gone no credibility and no team. same for you.
Prince - Only one thing for it you devious dog. There's one thing that all men understand. Money. You got any?
Kevin - Can raise a bit. You?
Prince - Borrow a bit on the bog roll stock.
Kevin - I'll get his agent on the phone, and do us a favour Abdul.
Prince - What's that dodgy dog?
Kevin - Get that Van Winkel fucked off as a sweetener, I know he's having none of that.
Prince - No problem, but if I win he's coming back.
Kevin - Your funeral mate! Get your people to speak to my people about the meet and will stick a plaster over this until it's sorted.
Prince - Incidentally Dirty Dog, who's Danny and WWF?
Kevin - Da Fuck I know!

Currently astonished about your strange refusal to accept the obvious.

Three days before you I believe. In the Star......

:)

Sigh.

Has it ever occurred to you that the owners had already embarked on these actions before your initial idea and Biggsys follow up? ( I'm leaving Danny out for the mo because he seems to be having some sort of crisis). Or do you think that it's initially 100% down to your thread on here? A thread which attracted more ridicule than support?

Danny04 ,

Sean Thornton has posted links above showing it was on the Star website. If you now want to forensically prove it was never in the paper edition then so be it, but as most of us don't read it anymore, then I think it matters not whether it is on the web or it wasted some more trees.

Which were?

Thanks for asking.

My view is that United should back Wilder with a 10 year contract ( ridiculed on here and no support about 9 months ago).

Look at the situation Blades. Without loads of cash he's the best in 'the world' within our wilderest dreams! He has performed a minor miracle these past 18 months.

With cash? I'd go with him 100%. Why? Because he's got common sense, he knows life. He knows the game. Even with cash he'll buy characters, you know the Jagielkas not the Lescotts or the Woodgates.

Wilder has the experience of over 800 games. He has a very good manager as his Assistant. He's a Blade through and through but he is not for one minute blinded by Bladeyness. He is also ambitious and is not a fool,

His ability as a manager will not be defined by a mediocre spell as a 'safe pair of hands' in S2, keeping the natives happy with mid-table Championship football. I reckon he has a sense of destiny and confidence having served his apprenticeship at other clubs.

United have to show him they believe in him. The ownership tangle demonstrates how quickly football stability can change. The eventual owners, whoever they are, have to back the man and so do our fans.

We have seen so much nonsense on here this past few weeks, nonsense that the manager will be clocking and nonsense that affects him and the players. Things said by majorities on fans' forums do not go unnoticed. Support in bad times can mean so much to a manager and a player when other opportunities beckon.

Fans need to understand what they wish for and believe me Wilder is as good as it gets for us, no doubt whatsoever. He is our only chance and if he fails in due course so be it, let's go with him.

The alternatives are the likes of Robson, Blackwell, Speed, Adams, Wear, Clough, Adkins et al.

Or if we somehow get serious financial backing we'll get somebody like Carvalhio or the new bloke over there, can't remember his name or that of their new Chief Exec from Charlton. Be careful what you wish for Blades.

Big cash does not buy success. Big transfer fees do not guarantee you any better than Sharp/Clarke/ Donaldson. I'd love to see who Wilder signs if he ever gets say £5m on a player. I think a lot on here would be very surprised who he went for.

Let's support the manager. Let's be patient and grow with him and the club. For a club like ours it's the only way to get right up there. Wilder could just possibly be a Brian Clough, a Bill Shankly and even an Arsene Wenger who " turned down the world'" to stay with the Arsenal fans. OK he has lost his way but we may just have something like his first 10 years to look forward to right now. Be careful what you post and what you wish for fellow Blades. Wilder is THE MAN for at least a decade.

The ownership dispute is so much the 'Bladesway'. We are vulnerable and there is a worst case scenario which we are all aware of and dread.

Wilder is a professional and successful manager no doubt in big demand for clubs like West Brom, Southampton who will have loads of cash to splash from their Parachute Payments as well as the accumulated wealth from years in the Premier League. He is exactly what those clubs need in their position; a practical, successful manager with his feet on the ground and an incredible three seasons success at three levels of the league where he knows value for money and quality players; an ability to establish 'old values' in the modern game.

Wilder and Knill were given improved contracts last summer but I suggest they are on peanuts compared to the offers that can be made by the above clubs. Added to that their spending budgets and the quality of their exising squads will be far higher than ours while we are paralysed by the owners' legal wranglings without the means to improve the squad much at all.

My belief is that Wilder wants to be in the job he is in right now and for years to come. He can transform the club and change it's history and which Blade would not give their hind teeth for that opportunity - a legend at his own club in his own lifetime and for ever.

On the other hand if the Prince takes total control will he change the phylosophy and careful path that Wilder has established. The risks for Wilder are obvious especially if we have a mediocre start to the season which will not be weighed against the lack of budget in the summer. It's harsh but almost inevitable that results count regardless of background conditions and past achievements are soon forgotten, especially by foreign owners.

This is 'The Bladesway' and it all lifts towards Farce and Incredulity if we should get promoted this season. Wilder will have to weigh-up all those factors very soon I'd say.

Season ticket sales at 12000 to date may be a touch disappointing.

The ownership dispute may be partly/ mostly the cause why some fans are leaving their options open.

Would fans welcome full ownership returning to McCabe or the prince taking full charge?

I'm not sure what the prince knows about football or more particularly football in S2, or about fans in S2. Nor am I sure McCabe wants to throw even more cash at the club. It may be 'Hobson's Choice' and the prince might think he is the popular option.

This is a special club and the culture of the club is maybe more important than many, if not most other clubs.

Chris Wilder epitomises our culture and is a proven successful and experienced manager. In my opinion whoever owns the club should secure his services for years to come. If he doesn't want recruitment of numbers of foreign players then that is how it is as far as I'm concerned.

As a season ticket holder I wish to make a pledge that if Wilder leaves the club due to differences of opinion with any owner on strategy, approach or budget, then immediately I cut my season ticket card in two and return it to the owner.

In these days of petitions for this that and everything, why don't we petition the half-owners to let them know our concerns and anxieties over their dispute.

Indeed the message is 'do not take control of the club without adequate financial resources to back our current manager' this summer. Back him with increased (not extreme) budgets and you are very welcome.

Let's back our Blade and manager!

If Wilder chooses to leave then so do I.

It's quite sad really.

Again Sean you are quoting nonsense.

I have never said it was down to my actions

Poor, poor form old boy.

Crisis? Which crisis? It's quite sad really.

Hi ISC, maybe take a look back through the thread? My first post: it was in the Sheffield Telegraph. It was. No doubt about that. Thursday, May 3. It never appeared in The Star. It was on the website, yes. But in the Telegraph. How do you prove a negative again?

Thanks for asking.

1)Ten year contract. Remember Porterfield?
Did you get much support for that?

2) Iwasn't aware WBA or the Saints were in for him. You argue there was a state of paralysis due to the ownership dispute. Clearly that's not been the case as we can see.

3) Season ticket sales were up to around 17000 BEFORE the contract extension.

The floor is yours.

There is no quote in my post. I asked if you "thought". Read things properly.

And try and up the humour level.

Okay. So it appeared ON the website three days before your open letter did. :)

There. Sorted.

Let other members judge your form Sean. Poor, very poor. Look at the date of the posts, remarkable insights in actual fact. The forum will miss them, thanks to you.

Now we’re dealing in facts. Even earlier than that I’d say? That was Thursday, mine wasn’t published until the following Bank Holiday Monday.

I said above that it doesn't matter whwether it was web or print. The majority on here would see either as 'in the Star' but if you want to be 100% accurate, then yes, you are right. It was never 'in the Star paper' but it was on t'web as Sean Thornton linked above.

If only all Star staff took such care and attention over this level of detail....

Just for good measure I'll toss in another 2 quotes which show my first draft letter to the owners. Look at the date of that and the O.P. on the 'thread 'Pledge'. Remarkable, as Foxy suggested, maybe plaguerised by Biggs and Danny.

Well firstly plagiarised would be a bit strong, very strong in fact, although they may ( or may not) have taken a lead from you. But the three quotes you posted as "proof" also contained the arrant nonsense I've commented on.

Call it poor as much as you want, keep on with the old boy superiority but put your spellchecker on please. It's very embarrassing for us older gents to see someone of our generation making simple errors.

Sean Thornton

Just for good measure I'll throw in two more quotes - take a look at the dates April 27th and May 2nd, but don't use them against Danny please.

Ok Brownie, copy Foxy .

Straight off the top, 1st draft, please suggest improvements.

Dear ... ........... ( ownersx2)

As fans we would like to thank you for your combined efforts since 2012. The extra investment which helped build our club for success and the appointment of Chris Wilder provided it over the last 2 years with wonderful entertainment and special times for all at the club. Prince ...?.., no doubt you will have been delighted how we fans have responded with support rarely seen at this level at any other club.

The purpose of this letter is to express the anxiety we fans have about the current legal negotiations.

Such negotiations are nothing whatsoever to do with us and we know Mr McCabe always has the long term interests of SUFC in mind and that he respects the prince in that context.

We fans are seeking reassurance at this time. Can you both confirm that steps are in place to provide an appropriate budget for our manager in time for him to improve the squad now and at a pace to help you achieve the medium term objective to reach the Premier League, indeed to be competitive with a promotion push next season. We believe provision of such a meaningful budget is in the interests of the club and particularly both owners, regardless of who takes control in due course. The club needs to build on momentum and not stall it.

Please regard this letter as being in the best interests of our club. We fans do not want to lose the best manager we have had for years and years.

Good luck with the negotiations.

Yours. "

just to be clear, when you say
'remarkable insights in actual fact. The forum will miss them'
are you talking about yourself?

At last you've quoted a fact. !!

Still game, set and match again though.

You did take a point finally though, against the serve too.

Now we’re dealing in facts. Even earlier than that I’d say? That was Thursday, mine wasn’t published until the following Bank Holiday Monday.

Dealing in pedantry more like. Anyway, now there's a possible charge of plagiarism, I think you'd, quite rightly, move onto that point, as per.

Bit of a "Blades fans at the Lane" moment.
