Warnock

To be fair to Warnock he’s only managed teams expected to get relegated in the PL.

Notts County, us, Palace in a time of turmoil, QPR. In the case of the latter, got them up, had them 4th bottom then they gave loads of cash to Hughes and got relegated.

It seems doing one good job in an uncompetitive foreign league is also enough these days to be offered a middling top flight role at the very minimum and no less.

I’m not saying they are not very good managers but Mourinho has never had to manage without money. Did well at Porto but should have been knocked out of the European cup were it not due to a duff call vs Man U. Villas Boas very similar, did well at Porto but failed at Spurs and Chelsea. Even Pochetino did nothing spectacular at Espanyol, a decent job at Southampton and he’s set.

None of them have had to repeatedly fashion a silk purse from a sow’s ear like Warnock has.

None of them have taken an at the time unfancied team and turned their fortunes around quite like Warnock has at Cardiff.

He’s definitely a victim of football snobbery, be that the penchant for foreign coaches or high profile ex players.

Hughes is another good example. Managed Man City, Fulham, QPR, Stoke and Southampton. Made all of them progressively worse but still gets a job at the top table.

Steve Bruce is another who has been afforded far greater opportunities yet performed averagely. You can throw Pardew in there too. How about Sherwood? In any normal conpany how was Sherwood more qualified than Warnock for the Spurs or Villa jobs?

We’ve never seen Warnock perform with a club the size of Villa or a large budget yet his ability to optimise resources is consistently better than a lot who have.

We won’t next year either. His budget will be one of the lowest and he’ll be expected to overachieve.

I suppose if he is 4th bottom at Christmas they’ll sack him and bring a Redknapp or the like in to save them, fritter away someone else’s cash and still fail.

He’s had a very successful career and any chance at the top level he’s had to create himself unlike many other so-called big name managers.

No malice from me. Who would you have preferred in the 07/08 season looking back? Big name Robbo or another year of Warnock?

So you have lost respect for him because of your fear that he might do something that he didn't actually do. He didn't take the Wednesday job so you no longer respect him because he might have done so, but didn't. I find that a little bizarre.

He didn't take it because it was agreed between Warnock and Mandaric that it was untenable as the Wednesday fans wouldn't take to him - and understandably so. It doesn't mean Warnock wouldn't have took it, he spoke fondly of Wednesday and how he would like to turn them around as they were a massive club. He also said they'll forget I'm a United fan when I start winning games. I don't respect him for that because he always said he is a massive Blade. Just because he didn't take it doesn't change what he actualy wanted, or expressed to the press.

He also almost left during the promotion season for Portsmouth who were in the bottom three of the PL and that had a negative effect on our results during the time he wouldn't rule it out and he actually went for an interview with them. Again it was Mandaric who wanted him.

He also blamed the referee for every bad performance and never took personal responsibility. I could say more but I think I've explained why I do't respect him. If you find it bizarre then ask others on here what they think too.

Course he did they are paying him ! Some of our fans are so thick....there's a difference between being an ordinary fan & one who makes his living in football ! I shouldn't have to point this out to fans of even low intellect.
Nice

"Vile sector of our fans"... ??? I know it's been a lovely day day but perhaps it's time to put the bottle away for the evening.

And CW is nothing like NW. One loves the club, one certainly doesn't.

Be interesting to see how people who rinse Warnock for talking to Pompey / SWFC square the circle if Wilder fooks off to Sunderland.

I still like Warnock and if I met him I'd shake his hand, thanks him for what he did at our place but also I've lost total respect for him since he left us with the Wednesday flirtation and every job he does is the best he's done and his favourite. It makes him sound very fickle. Top manager though you can never take that away from him.

Top managers manage in the top leagues. He’s demonstrated conclusively that he’s out of his depth in the Premiership, him.

Which teams that he managed there should he have kept up? My recollection was that for each side he’s taken up they’ve been strong favourites for relegation. Those expectations might in large part be due to the reality of the make-up of the teams he’s himself assembled to get them there, but I’m interested to know which clubs you feel he underperformed compared to someone that would have been given the same job.

He’s failed time after time; every time. Dem’s the facts. He’s never had a chance with anything but relegation candidates because quite rightly he wouldn’t be trusted with such a job. He doesn’t understand football at the top level. He’s an upanatem merchant competing against precision engineering.

Ten points clear and safety would have been assured by the signing of one premiership quality midfielder. Instead OBN spent millions on sub-standard garbage like Shelton, Fahti and Kazim-Richards. He then froze against both Villa and Wigan.

He’s great at getting promotion; pretty good at relegation too, him.

Meet the Alan Partridge of top-flight football. Never had a second season, him.

I reckon getting Cardiff up is his greatest achievement as they looked fucking dire every time I saw them.

Well done Colin. :);)

So to be clear, your argument is: you accept he got expected-to-be-relegated teams relegated, and so has failed...something something upanatem...something something Villa...[insert bignose picture from collection of bignose pictures]?

And CW is nothing like NW. One loves the club, one certainly doesn't.

Though NW loved the club when he was here.

Possibly the vile abuse from the shit faced tosser Sean Bean in front of his family after our relegation from the Prem soured things ?

What should NW say about his Cardiff squad, they were a great bunch of players but nowhere as good as his Blades squad ?

I think some armchair experts are best left in charge of their armchairs.

You can hero-worship a very limited manager, big on mouth as well as nose, as much as you want. The facts show him to be out of his depth at the top level. He doesn’t understand what is required to survive there. In a phrase, proper football. It’s beyond him, him.

Luton Shelton. Luton Fucking Shelton.

How many more failures do you need?

Warnock should have been sacked immediately after promotion. Sean Bean didn’t throw away a ten point safety margin. Your hero did...

Would you say wonderful things about your ex club if you read all the abuse and shit posted on here about you ?

Maybe CW should have been sacked when we top of the championship.

If that’s directed at me, I don’t give a fuck what Ol’ Big Nose says about anything. It’s invariably drivel ending in ‘me’. He’s nothing to do with me or our club.

He’ll embarrass himself again in the next twelve months with his ridiculous antics, then he’ll be sacked, relegated or both. It’s what he does at the top level.

Why is that fucking scumbag still being discussed?

Because he's achieved something that no other manager has. Eight promotions, four of which are to the top flight. He's also a Blade believe it or not. Be careful about calling someone a "fucking scumbag" btw, we all know you dislike NW, can't we just leave it at that?

He deserves all the shit he gets because he's an odious cunt in both word and deed.

Neil Warnock fans refuse to see it, but thankfully, Sheffield United fans can.

Being a fan of Warnock, what I like best about him is the way he scores a bullseye on the raw nerve of his detractors and compels them to write rubbish like this.

I really think you need to stop taking everything someone like Warnock says so seriously. He is mischievous (to some) or a wind up merchant or worse (to others) depending on whether you dislike him or not. He may have said those things, but in the past he has also said he would like the job so that he could buy a load of poor players and completely ruin them, or words of a similar nature. Did he really mean that as well, or was that just trying to get a reaction?

As for why he didn't take the job, that is pure speculation. All I know is that whenever any side he is managing beats them, he looks extremely pleased.

Perhaps you didn't witness the fucking scumbags behaviour at Bramall Lane recently.

Or maybe you're just such a big worshipper of the fucking scumbag that you thought it was great?

Either way, the fact that many supporters of the fucking scumbag still love to laud his ignoble "accomplishments" over a decade since he fucked off is both astounding and depressing in equal measure.

I'll continue to educate the supporters of the fucking scumbag until his name vanishes from discussion about Sheffield United.

You'll still be at it when you're 103 years old being fed through a straw :D

I don't know if you think using the the term "fucking scumbag" 4 times in a post is clever.

It isn't

We all did, it was on Sky. He celebrated. He's Cardiff's manager. That's his style. So what?

"That's his style, so what"

Thank fuck we don't all share your apologist attitude, but then slavish hero worship is the hallmark of Neil Warnock fans.
